Slotto
I picked this up at the NNL last weekend. I used to own this kit when I was a kid and remember it fondly. It was marked as built at $15. I asked the vendor if that was the best he could do and said he would take $10 for it. It appeared to be all there so I went for it. When I got home I disassembled it and sprayed the body and interior with my preferred paint remover. While the parts soaked, I freshened up the engine a bit. so far I've added a distributor, plug wires with boots, a coil, fuel lines, openings for the heater hoses and carburetor linkage with a return spring. The plan is metal flake blue exterior with black interior.
dwc43
For future reference the dist. mounts behind the water pump area at an angle not on the intake and the coil goes on the intake not the head.

customline
I keep a can of Easy-Off around for chrome removal but found it wasn't great for the paint I was trying to remove. I should probably give it another try. Some paints are pretty stubborn, I guess. 😕
atomicholiday
Nice kit. I built one of these about 20 years ago. The metallic blue plastic it was molded in was so nice I didn’t paint the body. Just lightly polished it and called it done. Interested to see how this goes for you.

I like this idea. 🙂 any household bleach, ten mins and the chrome will be mostly gone, it wont touch the primer under the chrome though so if you want it gone you need a normal stripper. as a bonus you can use the leftover bleach to clean the toilet afterwards and keep the missus happy

ncbuckeye67
It doesn't have to be a name brand, the store brand regular (unscented) bleach is fine. The Dollar Store kind does absolutely nothing. Like Les said, it works almost immediately. Then rinse and wash with Dawn, and you're good to go. Edited May 26 by ncbuckeye67

Slotto
I blew the interior bucket apart so I could detail the door cards and add carpeting. The body needs a lot of cleanup.

bisc63
Good start. These kits build up nicely, but do watch the front-to-rear spacing of the wheels within the wheel wells. I recall having to tweak the fit just a bit to get them properly centered.

bisc63
I've built this one and the Monogram 70 Roadrunner, and one had the problem more so than the other, and I'm pretty sure it was this one. Still some of my favorite kits to build.
Slotto
Got the hood situated as well as the interior. I need to get some wood colored enamel so I can hit that steering wheel

Slotto
Stripped the body 2wice. I guess I'll hand tool the rest until its clean. the guy who had this before me lettered the tires. He didnt do a bad job but I think I'll look for some preprinted ones. and of course the wheels are now posable.

I had to see what she looks like with the body on the chassis Your second pic shows what I was referring to, the kit sets the wheels a little too far to the rear. I think I just shaved a little from the front of the spring, and maybe redid the front perch. The real deal: Edited yesterday at 03:01 AM by bisc63 added info.
