scottyguitar Posted March 8, 2010 Share Posted March 8, 2010 That Ford truck with the long arm in front is indeed a tree shaker, used in pecan orchards to knock the pecans out of the trees for harvesting. The arm is long because there is a canvas skirt that is placed under the tree to catch the falling pecans; the arm length allows stand-off distance for the truck to prevent crushing the pecans.
