noname
Finally finished this one. This Willys represents a car that would have been raced in the early sixties, then got passed through a few hands while sitting around. Then in the late sixties someone got a hold of an x S/S 426 Wedge motor and went racing again. Hope you like.
Jeff Sauber
Super cool, Nice work!! I like the engine choice. Usually everyone just goes with the typical hemi.
Sully
I like how you did your Willys, and also that you put a story behind it........Job well done..... Sully
noname
Thanks guys. I actually got inspiration from a 1:1 car in Rod and Kulture mag. The only real difference is that mine has two carbs instead of one and the one in the mag is blue with clear glass. I really liked the Wedge motor idea. I can see some of these motors hanging around as left over Super Stock motors.
weasel
yep, that looks like an old gasser!! ready to jerk the wheels at the start!! and, it's a handshaker to, right?? lol
1972 Satellite
You did a beautiful job on that car. Very nice all the way around.
Tony Jenkins
I like the fact that you put the wedge in, instead of just goin with the s.c. hemi, also the "look" is just rite.
noname
Thanks again guys. Cars like this definately existed, you just didn't see them in the magazines. Weasel, excuse me if I'm being daft but I'm not sure what you mean by "handshacker".??
rustybill1960
Very nice build! Really like the engine detailing, very nice work there! I like the Willys, I have several in my stash, '33 and '40-'41's. I like the look they have, different than the Ford, you know what I mean?!?!? Thank You for sharing Later Russ
Tony1200
You did a beautiful job on this willies, very nice all the way around I love the fantom wheels perfect execution,,reminds me of hot rod
pharr7226
Nice details and the weathering looks great.
Bonekrosha
Awesome! Ditto on the wedge choice. I love Hemis but it's nice to see a regular big block Mopar (as if the Max Wedge motors were regular)...
stump
That is really very nicely done. Particularly like the subtle weathering you added, it adds greatly to, and follows your great story line.
rmvw guy
I like it a lot, very nice weathering, it gives me some inspiration for one I've been working on. I like the story also and the engine choice.
W-409
Cool Willys, it's a shame that I missed this in 2010. Weathering looks good and realistic. I also like that 426 MaxWedge on the engine bay. Something different than the usual Hemi.
noname
Thanks guys, never thought I'd see this popping up again. I actually wasn't 100% happy with it so I repainted it while back. I have since had some more practice weathering and will do another weathered drag car in the future. Thanks for bringing this up again. rmvw guy
I like the new version also. I'm starting to really like this kit again. Thanks for sharing.
noname
Thanks muchly Dave and Ron. Ya, this kit can be used in alot of ways. I still have a couple that will likely end up as period Gassers. Hard to believe these cars actually started out as a stock everyday driver. Now it is hard to see them as anything but a drag or custom. Romell R
Very Kool I liked it in both versions
futurattraction
The weathering and paint you did on the early pictures of your Willys were so realistic that if it was set up with a realistic background/diorama, it could have easily passed for a 1:1. It looks very cool in the newer pic, too...
Tony1200
Wow I was stunned with the first version and i love the updated one amazing work....
Dr. Cranky
Matt, I like both versions, but tell me you didn't paint over the first one? The weathering (rusting) on that one was subtle and very well done. Besides, the 41 Willys is one of those kits you might as well buy by the half dozen . . . once you get addicted to building them, you won't be able to stop. zaina
i really like both versions...weathering on the first one looks great...i also like the motor choice as everyone has a hemi in it. i think its kind of a shame that you repainted it though...i would of just built another one.
