Aoshima Mad Max

Seen this kit sitting lonely on the shelf, so I picked it up....normal price 24.95...40% off...great deal........kit is a 1973 XB GT Ford Falcon Coupe from the Road Warrior movies , curbside , molded in black , right hand drive only, gimmicks are gas barrels and cans in the trunk area...chassis detail is pretty loose as well as the interior area....if you collect movie themed autos , its pretty nice as are all Aoshimas offerings....trying to turn it into something else would be a big project...........seems like this kit is always hard to find , even this was the only one HL had..........

What engine was in the movie car? I thought about getting that kit at Hobby Lobby myself, but I'd have to put an engine into it.

The orignal car was equipped with a 351 cui V8 with a fake Weiand blower. The blower was driven by the waterpump.

That has been one of the kits I've been wanting to get my hands on for awhile now, but all of my lhs havent had any that I've seen or come across and the net prices are just a bit to high for me.. Nice builds and nice steal @ price on that kit..

I've always wanted to build this car as I am a big fan of Max. Thanks for the look at it, I may have to pick one of these kits up.

I've heard they are a nice build up, but are just a curbside. It has an interior but no engine and the chassis is very basic. This is third hand info and I could be wrong. Good luck with it tho.

I opened mine up just to see what was inside this morning. There is indeed no motor. But it looks like it has an interior. Being roughly based off a Torino Unibody with a Mustang Mach one ish front clip I don't see why a resonably detailed version can't be built using the promodeler Torino from Revell. Actually a Falcon XB and powered by a 351C 4v motor. The roof/trunk spoilers, front clip and the wheel flares were all fiberglass custom one off pieces.

Do a search and the car comes up quite a bit. There's a couple of good sites on building your own Interceptor. And the car still exists in the Cars of the Stars Museum in England or somewhere around there from what I was reading this morning. It would apear that the model relicates the car from Mad Max II btw.

thanks for all the info; those are impressive builds BTW; and i happen to have an unfinished Cobra that WILL be going into this kit. i'd rather have the Mad Max version than the Road Warrior one, so the rest of the torino kit will go into it too.
