Hondo
Started on this one months ago. Finally got the yellow and decals on it. Tamiya paint, Slixx (of course) decals. Word to the wise...... when clearing decals with (Tamiya) lacquer, be sure to add light coats, one at a time. I got it too heavy and it melted a couple decals. (Debating on doing this one over) Don't know when I'll get this one finished, but thought I'd share.
1320wayne
Great looking paint job and decal work Jim. I have had this one on the list for some time as I have the resin body and the decals as well. Those colors really pop. I was debating about whether or not to use the decals to simply do the all blue version of this car but after seeing how yours looks I think when I do start it I will go with this scheme. KiwiMike
Great looking model so far. This is one of my favourites too. Who's body did you use? Edited September 18, 2010 by KiwiMike
AZ Boy
Jim, Nice to see you 'in the groove' again! Man, this looks VERY promising. Great job on the paint and decaling. I hear you on the Tamiya clear. That happened to my Hawiian Charger too. Went thru 3 sets of those and it still didn't turn out the way I wanted to. Keep up the GREAT work on this one. I'll be watching-n-waiting! Aaron

Trans Am Erik
Good job on your Blue Max Hondo. I feel your pain with the decals. It took 2 sets on my Blue Max '84 Mustang slot car. I'm also building the '83 EXP Blue Max.
KiwiMike
Hondo, just checking your body with the photo on Slixx site. Did you do any modifications? Your body looks deeper between the wheel arches Thanks Mike

Hondo
Hondo, just checking your body with the photo on Slixx site. Did you do any modifications? Your body looks deeper between the wheel arches Thanks Mike Hi Mike, As far as body mods on this Comp Resin body...... Yes, I always grind the edges of the fender wells down to a minimum thickness as needed. Sometimes, it looks too "thick", so I try to make it appear right. I use my motor tool (Dremel) to do this. (Photo by Mike Ditty) Thanks again & good catch, Mike.
KiwiMike
Hondo I'm not sure you understood the question what I meant was the area of the body below the side windows and the bottom sill appear deeper than the photo on Slixx site. I hope this is clearer. How is the model coming along made any progress? Mike

I hope this is clearer. How is the model coming along made any progress? Mike Mike, On my body the bottom decals (Goodyear, Cragar, Moroso, Cyclone) are on the very bottom edge. On the real car, there is a black valance (sill) panel below these decals. It's there on the CR body, just not enough room to get them in there. I could have moved the blue up some, but didn't think it would look proportionally correct. (The pic I added of the real car shows this) No more progress. Hope to get back on it soon.
