RodneyBad
Since the forum was down I had to do something. So I surfed the net and found dajiban Japanese craze of RoadRacing full size Dodge vans. So I will be using the AMT reissue of the 911 van and now the start of it. I Redid the inner wheelwells so I could get the van Lower and use wider tires. Better pics when PC and Dig Camera learn to work together. Ugh..
Rob Z
HHHmmmmm!!! Interesting concept, I have a couple of short wheelbased Chevy van's that looks like a KOOL way to go with one of them, plus I could put it on the trailer right behind the other... MMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmm That sounds like a Great Idea too. A tow rig. The funny think I have read about this style is the gut the interior and Haul their supplies around with them to the track. Gotta love the Japanese way of thinking, Race Van and Hauler all in one. Trying to get some better pics. Hardest part for me is figuring how to lower the front suspension being it's just a block of plastic.

Foxer
I like the idea that vans are sneaking in here (MCM) and having a grand time! Defiantly cool, Rodney.

Rob Z
After looking up some of these vans they look rather straight forward, with some interior and chassis mods it looks really buildable...
RodneyBad
After looking up some of these vans they look rather straight forward, with some interior and chassis mods it looks really buildable... I liked to have hoped soo but the stock version sits soo Tall I've been rebuilding the suspension (front and rear)to get it in the weeds. Whoops, maybe too low but Low is good for racing. Right? Got the wheel wells rebuilt to fit the tires better. I'll get up-date pics soon. I'm perty sure it won't fade into the forgotten backburner Zone (it's full)
Rob Z
I'm perty sure it won't fade into the forgotten backburner Zone (it's full) I know all to well about the backburner... I am really interested to see what is going on with this one and possibly borrow some of your suspension mods to try on one of my Chevy's... RodneyBad
Well looking for Dajiban Vans, they all shown Late 90s Dodge Vans but it doesn't mean there isn't a Chevy. Chassis pics Stock Lowered, I cut the front cross member off where it hung below the frame for more clearance. Notched out the front spring mount postition to below the frame and will do the same to the rear. I still have to C-notch the rear frame. Stock interior tub with Lil Wheelwells. Camera did not want to Focus at all. Modified wheelwells and removed Engine cover.
RodneyBad
As it sits now (front axle on top of the frame) BTW: it is sitting on Fujimi 17" Watanabe wheels How much was it lowered? A lot my guess. You be the Judge. What a Differance between old and new Plastic. I like the old Plastic better but not using that one. Yet. Yes, I do have two Dodge vans but Only two. DANG!! Wish I had MORE......... Edited January 12, 2011 by Zukiholic

txdieseldog
Rodney, just a thought, but what about reducing that wind resistance footprint with a chop top, or channel the middle. Its already lowered, make the top lower too. Barry

Its already lowered, make the top lower too. Barry I'd love to do that but if I start hacking up the body, it'll never get finished. This I know Like Robz said, the vans are perty straight forward builds. Other than chassis and engine mods, that's about it. Keep it simple. I'll try too. Guest
Cool idea Rodney! I have an old Chevy van that I did a top chop on,but never finished. Now I know what I need to do to it. I may have to make mine a mid engine for better weight transfer.
RodneyBad
I do have the proper Yr Diecast van But I'm a diehard Plastic fan.
RodneyBad
Not a lot done that can be seen (more thinking really) but the start of a RollCage Thinking of just a 6-point to protect the driver. 318 Engine from the AMT 71 Duster. Being this must be the One Millionth copy, The Body Details are far from being anything close to crisp. One light coat of primier and details are gone. Even the side door hinges are darn near gone.. Mmmmm, Maybe just easier to shave off all the trim and emblems.
Chuck Most
I hear ya- cutting up the body is a project's death sentence. First thing I'd have tried was cutting the body down to the shorter wheelbase of the 1:1. Glad to see you aren't taking that jaded path, and choosing the path of progress instead!
