ViperDave
I got this one by sending off cereal box tops in 1964. I am about finished with the restoration. Just some touch ups and BMF around the wheel wells and rocker panels . .
455 Rocket
Nice car. My dad a a turquiose one just like it in the late 60's early 70's. The only thing I hated was no A/C.
Harold
Man, that really jars the old memory bank. My Dad bought a Monza coupe in '63, brand new. It was silver with a dark blue interior and a 4 speed. We lived in the country, and you could literally hear him 2 miles away rowing through the gears and having a grand old time. Nice resto on yours.
MrObsessive
Nice Build Dave! I have an Uncle that is a Corvair nut! He's owned just about every Corvair model over the years including the early station wagons and the Van. Right now he owns a pristine '66 Monza 2 dr hardtop that no one drives but him....................I get a kick out of hearing it start up as they had a very unique starter sound! Does anyone know if the '65 and later Corvairs had the same floor pan as the '60-'64's? I also have a '64 I want to restore sometime and want to use the chassis out of the '69. I know the rear suspension would be different as Chevy got away from the swing axles after '64.
jbwelda
i was under the impression that the type 2 corvair was a completely different car than the type 1 except for engine. one thing for sure, the type 2 sure looks a lot cooler. theres a white convertable thats been lowered and hot rodded down the street from me and i lust over that frequently.
