wvsm Posted February 6, 2011 I am sorry I do not have any pics handy right now but here is a tip I have used many times. If you have a model and want to make either a windshield or a side glass........ drink up! Get you a clear 2 liter soda bottle and cut out the side (after washing it) it will make a almost scale windshield or a side glass. The green soda bottles make for an interesting green window tint job also. This will even work on your refurbished hots wheels! I hope this helps someone along the way! imatt88 Posted February 6, 2011 Mark, You definately need to post pics for this one! How do you get the plastic to conform to the cars shape? Just glue it, or heat it up and flatten it out? Cool idea, Cheers, Ian
wvsm Posted February 6, 2011 The trick is to heat it up for a straight windshield, I have a wagner heat gun but use it sparingly as it really gets hot! The small windows do not need heated as the can be placed between the door and panel for side glass.I will be posting some pics soon.
Marc @ MPC Motorsports Posted February 7, 2011 Nice tip, but I think this stuff is a little too thick to work well IMHO. Go to an office supply store and get some report covers or clear binding covers. They are real "clear" and a better thickness to make model car glass from. And, no heat gun required to make flat. Harold Posted February 7, 2011 I've done that on a few models- a '65 Lincoln, a '65 Coronet and an '82 EXP. The Faygo bottles I use have a nice natural green tint to them, so they look great as windshields.

superhornet1015 Posted February 9, 2011 Hey All, very nice work. Hey Marc I'll have to try that tip of yours as my '65 GP needs new glass,( don't have a heat gun). Pete
Jon Cole Posted February 10, 2011 Works great! I used a CoffeeMate bottle... Cut out the shape of the window... Some polishing compound really helps.
