Petetrucker07
Looks great. The bracing looks spot on, right down to the half round body to chassis cups. Excellent work. Can't wait to see it in primer.

Mooneyzs
Clayton... Thank you at the time I started that body bracing I had never seen anyone do it before and thought I would try it. the body bracing bracket I made from styrene. I believe Dirt Modeler has them in photo etch, which UI would of loved to of used and save me some time...lol... will use them on my next build Bob... thanks... I will have to go back and take a look at that post. Dave.... thank you... how did you know I was going to polish the lug nuts... lol I am hoping to have an update soon for you guys. I may not have pics up ubtil sunday since i am trying to mock up the car for the Desert Scale Classic on saturday. Mark... thank you. I will be honest I can't wait until more is accomplished on this but I feel I am making a pretty good head way it now, especially since the body work is pretty much finished. now I need to jump back and get a few more parts drawn up and printed so I can get the engine finished. Danno
This is an absolutely stunning model. Even in its unfinished state, it is impressive!! Just wait 'til next year!
Nitrozilla
This is an absolutely stunning model. Even in its unfinished state, it is impressive!! Just wait 'til next year! I agree Danno. Chris could easily have this done by the end of 2016. Or did you mean by next years contest? I dunno' 'bout dat. I'm pretty sure there's a missing rivet in the hatch, but I didn't have an hour to stand there and count them !!!! Chris, my new friend, now that I know you, you're fair game Buddy. Seriously it was Total Joy to meet you and see that magnificent beast in real life. And the Vega. Sorry, I just got home and I'm a little road weary. I'm responsible for the genocide of every flying bug from Phoenix to Vegas. Next year can't come soon enough. Mooneyzs
Alright Fellas.... As I mentioned earlier that I was going to post pics when I got home from work. I apologize for the Delay had some other stuff going on when I got home and it took me a little longer to crop and resize the pics to upload to photobucket. Well as a few have probably already seen some of the pics of the Desert Scale Classic, so I can let the cat out of the bag. I have hit another Huge Milestone on this project. It's Official..... the Body is finally in Primer, I will need to add a little more body filler in a few spots and I will be blocking the body out and adding another coat of primer on it but with this first coat of primer it feels great to have it in this state. For the Primer I shot PPG's Omini 2K automotive primer on it. I am very happy with this material. I shot only 2 coats of primer on it. I also Painted the Body tins, although I need to touch it up because on the last coat of the black I shot when I went to put it in the car board box it fell off the Popsicle stick that I glued on to the side to hold it while I painted it. Well it fell off my work bench in my garage and slid under my El Camino. Needless to say my stomach turned when it happened but I was lucky enough that nothing broke on it and all that happened was it chipped the paint in a couple minor spots. I will touch those spots up and then it will be ready for rivets to be installed into it. I have a bunch of pictures to upload of this. Not sure I will give a description of every picture but I also had the chassis Mocked up with the engine and everything for the Desert Scale Classic. I hope you guys enjoy what I am calling a Milestone that I have hit with this. I am motivated more than ever to make a lot more progress now that I am seeing it come along more. Well Here is the start of getting the body in primer. Here is the Materials that I used. PPG's Omni 2K Ureathane Primer: Here is the body and escape hatch sitting on the hood of my car after I was done shooting 2 coats of primer letting it dry. This Material is awesome it is fully dry in 2 to 3 hours where you can sand and shoot the top coat on it after then if you would like: Here is the Body after it was dry: Front End Shot: Another Shot:

Mooneyzs
Clayton... Thank you Very much. The Plan is to have this build done sometime this year. I would prefer the sooner the better but I would think between August and October time frame but I think I can get it done sooner. we will see I won't make any promises. other than I really want to finish it this year, Did I mention that already
Petetrucker07
That would be awesome to finish it up this year. Hopefully I don't jinx it, hope you don't hit a motivational wall. As long as you keep plugging away, it'll be done this year and ready to hit the shows next year.
Mooneyzs
Nah you won't Jinx it. If you ask Danno he will tell you I have been saying I will have it finished next year for the past 3 years....LOL. Its kind of a running Joke and he was surprised that I actually had a finished build at the show this year. I am seeing where I am getting close but I am still a few months away. If I just stay on it I should have it done before I realize it. There is a show here come November I believe and it would be nice for it to be there but if not I would like it done for the NNL West next year and then it can go on the Model Show tour for the year... LOL Ok Fellas.... I realized that I forgot to upload a pic of the paint for the Body Tin Work. Here is a shot of the material and airbrush used shooting it: Edited April 15, 2015 by Mooneyzs
Petetrucker07
Yeah buddy. I hope to have a BIG 1/24 scratch built trailer done for next year. With the truck trailer it'll be about 5 foot long! I really can't wait to see this in person 1 of these days. I'm running local for Pioneer Sand this week. I hope to get by Hobby Town and Hobby Depot this week. HD has a few kits on hold for me.
