Ultra Gloss vs Wet Look

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone - I should know the answer to the following question however, any input would be great - Question: Using Testors paint - Ultra Gloss and Wet Look - which gives the best results to get that "just polished" look? - I've used both but still cannot get that high gloss look on my models - Polish is not an option - Please give me your input on this - Thanks in advance - Joe

If you don't want to use polish but want glossy, try Pledge floor wax with Future Shine, and apply it with a foam brush. Goes on smooth with just one coat, and dries to a high gloss finish.

However, if you're set on the Testors, then someone else can chime in. :)

Ultra gloss to me is the every day shine that you see an normal car shows on the every day driver. The Wet or Hi End Gloss is what you see on the Trailer queens at the Grand National or Detroit Autorama style shows that are going for the Great 8 award!

maybe it's an east coast thing?

Nope...I'min suburban Boston and I see it. I actually use it a lot, but not on dark solid colors. You can definitely see it on dark colors, especially a solid black. I've used it on a dark pearl green and you can't see it, as it blends into the pearl. But on gloss black its there.
