I don't recall mine being that difficult, but I was never happy with the location of the front axle and the axle was too narrow to boot, always had that on my rebuild list. On the other hand, I ways always pretty pleased with the full-fendered version. Hey, if you've gotta put a Chevy in a Ford rod, the 409 is WAY cool way to go.
