Borgis
Last weekend I finished this for the theme class at the 2011 B.U.C.K. Internationals. I've been back into the hobby for about two years but this is my first project with something more than primer on, besides for a couple of slotcar conversions. Nothing fancy, just the custom front and rear bumpers. Frenched headlights, shaved emblems and door handles. Lowered it and used the wheels from a Revmono -49 Merc. The interor got a couple of bucket seats, a steering wheel of unknown origin, and a different shifter. (Can anybody tell me where the steering wheel is from?) It's no show winner but it was fun to show it anyway. Thanks for looking! Edited November 9, 2011 by Borgis
Jantrix
Par that looks great. I've recently been working on a '53 Stude and I'd like to know what you did to get the front end so low. I ended up adding the subframe from a '68 Vette on mine. The kit suspension/chassis is near impossible to lower.
Borgis
Thanks Rob! Well, let's tell it like it is. I cheated. Since there's no motor in it, at least at the moment, I just sawed the upper front subframe from the frame. Shortened the springs, lowered the frame and glued a couple of styrene bits in the gap. Who needs realism? It's just plastic, right?. It would be fun to try to squeeze in some kind of motor in it though.
Jantrix
I've done that before too and other stuff equally sneaky. And you are right, it's just plastic. After a couple shows, it will just sit on my shelf anyway. Here is the Corvette suspension spliced into the Stude chassis. I wasn't trying for low-rider low, but I think i got sports car low pretty well.
Borgis
Very neatly done and it looks real good! I was thinking of maybe doing mine in a Carrera Panamericana way maybe with some kind of NASCAR chassis, but I realized the time frame was a bit to narrow. I'll keep watching your build taking its shape.

Harry P.
Looking at this model reminds me just how advanced those cars were, design-wise. I mean, that car still looks sharp and clean and completely up to date today!
charlie8575
It's very hard to improve on a total triumph of design, as the '53 Studebaker is. You did so, however, and very nicely. Great job. Charlie Larkin
W-409
I like that stance very much. Great job with the color choice. Paintjob looks good too. I like those Chrome Reverse wheels, they fit almost every body style from the 50's and 60's. Fin Studebaker, grattis!
peekay
Really like what you've done with this. Love the colours and I agree with you - It's just plastic, do what you want with it, there aren't any rules. I will build curbside if the hood fits better glued shut and have often sacrificed under-body authenticity to get the stance right.
surfjunke
Very nice clean build. Great stance & color.

Borgis
Thanks a lot for your kind words, guys. Imagine that I almost didn't have the guts to bring it to the show. Edited November 11, 2011 by Borgis
