Hey people, this is yet another good score off ebay, personally i have never heard of Tim Richmond but im sure he was a great enough driver to score a line of model cars. I just wanted to build an old old Monte Carlo stock car lol

The box was opened but its all there, mostly on sprues too. Keen to get started, so keen that i don't think there will be much sleep tonight lol

Tim Richmond was a tragic story in NASCAR. He was a great driver and a good guy who unfortunately was struck down by illness. Can't wait to see this one finished.

Yes, he was one of the best. We met Tim at the World Crown 300 one year, and he was a nut! Lol. Had he lived, he would have at least as many wins as Earnhardt....probably as many championships too. Keep the updates coming.

Actually, "Days of Thunder" was loosely based on several drivers from Buddy Baker on up. It was kind of an amalgam movie.

A Very Very Bad movie....... :D

Anyway.....the Revell Monogram Monte Carlo kit is a pretty decent kit. The chassis is just a little dated for the car but it's very close.....and it builds easily so a plus. Watch the decals in that kit. One run had bad decals. IIRC the white backing was omitted on one run so the decals bleed so bad they are not usable. BUT there are good aftermarket decals available if you got a bad set.

Thanks for the comments every single one of you, really sad to hear about Tim Richmonds life being cut short, sounds like Nascar would of been allot differant today had he of lived. I have also seen days of thunder, a prety good movie i thought! I honestly dont get why there are so many Tom Cruise haters out there.

Not good about the decals, the set in my last model (Olds Funny Car) were very brittle and the set with this model look to be in allot better condition. Hopefully they are.

Knowing what i do know this build is a bit more special than the others, i didn't get much done last night apart from sanding the body and getting some primer on it, assembled the motor and gearbox and layed a first coat of paint, as well as a coat of paint on all the roll bars.

He was quite charasmatic too. Could have helped market the sport in a wide range YEARS before Jeff Gordon did. I'm anxious to see this one, its always a nice looking build. Especially if you get the shade of red right.

Well....I geuss living in Charlotte and working in NASCAR my view is different than most. The movie was filled with so much junk it made it laughable. So many things they talked about were just goofy. Made it hard for me to watch. Then in the movie they would be racing at 'Atlanta' but the film footage would be Charlotte.....Then when in the film they are racing at Charlotte....it would be Michigan. WHY??? If you go to all these tracks use the right track. Also the manufacture of a car will change in the middle of a lap. Watch and see the BUD T-Bird change into a Monte Carlo in the race!! Come on....cars are wrecked then show up fixed a lap later.....It was a slap in the face to fans who could read the walls at the tracks. No respect for the sport in my book. Want to see a REAL NASCAR movie??? Get Last American Hero......THAT'S a racing movie.

Tom Cruise haters??? Well my daughter is a child development specialist. 6 years of hard schooling. She has seen and helped treat 1000's for kids with development disabilites. So how can Tom get on national TV (Today show) and say all kids with 'development issues' are just soft parents that don't raise their kids right. If he was talking about a race he would have been hung....but kids with metal issues....it's OK to slander. Look it up!

Anyway....model cars.....the only thing I don't like about the MC kit is the headers are wrong. Find a set from a 1/24 scale Monogram 57 Chevy if you car. Much more correct for this car.

Having aids is a prety (sensored) up way to die, and even though his record wasnt spectacular in any way. The 7 wins in his last full season is not bad at all. Even had Daytona under his belt.

Also sounds like he fits into the Rich kid stereotype very well lol, as stated in that article.
