Nice dash! I wish I could see it glow in the dark. Great job on this one.

Wish granted.

Looking good, looking real good. Question. How are you going to paint the body now that you have some of the chrome on?

If you are referring to the marker lights on top, I just desoldered them to paint.

that totally looks awesome I love it!!! I am so inspired... how did you make it so the gages glowed but not the rest of the dash.

I'm glad you like it. I cut holes in a peice of electric tape to match the gauges and put it on the back of the dash and then I put the Led on and made a lexan box around it and sealed it with liquid electrical tape.

Can't believe it has been a year since I have updated on this site. Painting was difficult and stressfull for me but it turned out pretty good. There are some paint problems that I have decided to overlook for now so I can get this finished. Made a motor plate and installed the new motor. It's not much faster but there is more torque than I need so I will probably change the gearing later.

The windsheild that came with the kit was warped and I could hardly see through it so I made a new one out of lexan.

This truck looks so cool I couldn't stop taking pictures of it. The visor is made out of styrene, the steps are made out of styrene and covered with a chrome sticker and you can't see it but I made a headliner out of the stuff I used for the mudflaps. The fuel tanks and air cleaners are aluminum from Jamie at MoLuminum and look great. I think the only stock parts are the horns and mirrors. These pics are with the airbags dropped (springs removed).

I also took pics with the flash only (no other lighting) and think they look really cool but I didn't want to post a ton of pics so click on this link to see them all.

Waiting on paint to dry so I can clearcoat it. I like the look of big 10" stacks so I got some 7/16" x .016" thin wall aluminum tube. I didn't think it could be bent without professional tools but I tried it anyway and it worked well. I packed the tube with sand and heated it with a propane torch, this is the tricky part. Then I put the tube in a handheld tube bender and carefully bent it. The 1st try the tube ripped when I was almost done, it needed more heat. The 3rd try I got it too hot and it was a little deformed but the 2nd and 4th turned out nice. The bends could be tighter but the are close enough. I know they are too long but I can't decide if I want angled cuts or straight cuts. Also needs to be polished.

Thanks for the explanation on this. I've been trying to figure out a good way to do this. They also say another good way to do this is to use the spring style benders bit I have never tried it. As far as the bends themselves the look great to me. The bigger the stack the wider the bend.

Thanks for the comments, more pics with lights coming soon.

I have used spring benders on 3/8 tube and based on that I didn't think they would work well with this really thin wall tube.

Hey rcdave,

I also have a love for rc vehicles. Aside from that, I just wanted to inform you that there is a guy on eBay saling an rc peterbuilt with a trailer staged as being part of Fast and Furious. If you want to find it, search xmods on eBay and( I actually just checked and now can't find it) , but I'm sure that you can locate it on google images. Anyway, awesome build!

These will actually supply power to the trailer.

I used peices of an antenna to detail the engine and really like how it turned out. I made radiator supports using paperclips and hood supports with 32 gauge wire. I also used nylon screen to give the radiator more texture.
