hudson uptop

Recommended Posts

Nice, Jeff. Got a price yet?

The maroon top many Hudson convertibles had was a very distinctive feature. Black and tan were also seen somewhat regularly.

Would it be safe to say that the original top material was what we call a "Hartz" top? Almost like a suede type?

I am interested in one or two. Please keep me posted when you are ready to sell the tops. Thanks!

Correct. Most American convertibles up until the early-mid 1950s used Haartz (with two "a"s) canvas. I believe the canvas top option on the present-production Chrysler 200 (in place of the vinyl) is also made by Haartz.

Anyone making a convertible top to fit the Moebius Hudson convertible? I would love to build mine with a nice top that sets off the color of the car.

Please let me know how to grab one, if one is made. Thank you in advance.

Jeff Ballard at Motor City Resin Casters was working on one if I recall, but I'm not sure on its status other than it isn't yet listed on his website.

Vince,

I have one of Jeff's Hudson up-tops for the Hudson convertible! What can I say about it except that it's one of the most perfect resin pieces I have ever seen (and I've seen lots of resin, even made a lot of resin parts). Be sure to catch up with Jeff at NNLE and snag that convertible up top--you will NOT be disappointed.

I second that! Jeff's up-top is perfect in every way. makes a great addition to the nifty Moebius Hudson convertible.
