biowear
Does anyone else on here like tractor pulls because I would like to see if anyone else has ever built one. I know AMT had a kit back in the late 80's or early 90's but I still haven't got one of these yet, because they are so hard to find. So I am thinking about building one from scratch using Ross Gibson engines.
Fat Brian
I love pulling stuff, I've got a few things in the works but nothing finished. You might want to contact Sean Stacey on here about engines, he was casting an Arias hemi from a pulling kit I traded him. Ben
There has actually been several "Tractor Pull" type models produced. There was the Blazing Bison tractor, the Tennesee Thunder funny car puller, the Pulldozer truck and the Orange Blossom Special pulling truck. MAGNUM4342
Wow! This topic just sent me back to the 1970's! Used to go to the tractor pulls every year at the county fairgrounds. There was a young lady I used to run around with there. I sure miss her. The tractor pulls not as much but still...

Modelcollector
Here's my only pulling truck so far. I have another in the works. Grabbing up parts.
Fat Brian
Are those tires from a Hotwheels monster truck? I've considered the same thing but I'm glad someone tried it before me, the look really good.
Modelcollector
Yes they are Brian. The axles I used are from an AMT monster truck. I narrowed them up some and used metal axles through them. I epoxied the hubs from the monster truck kit into the back of the tires. Worked out just fine. Now, I need to find a few more of those axles and hubs.... Fat Brian
The axles from the newer 1/32 snap monster trucks are pretty nice but you have to close the top of them with sheet plastic, they are smaller versions of the ZF axles in the tube chassis Bigfoot/Snakebite kits. raildogg
I have also wanted to scratch a pulling vehicle, but, I find it impossible to find suitable tire-rim combinations. What do you builders use? Nedd suggestions were to source them.
Fat Brian
Alan Raab casts the wheels and tires from the Orange Blossom Special truck, the guys above used Hotwheels Monster Jam trucks for tires. OBS tire and wheel Here is a link to Alan's Fotki album, http://public.fotki.com/cnaind/
XXXfire700
to tell you the truth the orange blossom tires dont really look like the new duble cut pulling tires they now use. the best ones you can use is the 1/64 hot wheels monster jam trucks. i see im not the only one thats using them for there pull trucks too. XXXfire700
i always wanted to build the IH 4300 or the old COE IH. i haven't posted much in awhile but it was pulling season and over last winter i did a full resto of my real pulling truck so this kinda took a back seat. so i hope to get back into this project soon and finish a few others

I have all these except the pulldozer which is the same truck as the mad mudder
