'68 Charger, Shaved and Dragged.

So - a while back - last year - December-ish I bought the Revell 1968 Dodge Charger 1/24th plastic kit.

Now - this is the first model car I've actually finished - and put time and effort into. (2 months of afternoon work every day kinda effort.)

But I'm happy to accept criticism where it is due. :-)

It has a full interior, and as much underside detail as I could manage.

I basically half bashed the kit - it had 3 options, Street, Race and Drag.

Took the 426 Cube Hemi drag motor, dropped that in, with the stock rear suspension, the put in the street race roll-cage with extinguisher, and street interior bar the back seat.

I like the tough look it has, being lower than a drag car, but being slightly higher than a street car thanks to the big rear tyres.

All the locks and body markings were shaved, and so was the fuel cap, the only badges that remain are the Charger and R/T badges on the grille - which are painted.

I have since adjusted the window trim, so now it's all clean and shinier. :-D

Everything is painted, all the little buttons on the radio and the handles on the glove box, ash tray, etc. You can see the fire extinguisher on the cross support on the roll bar here too.

Shaved bum - unfortunately you can see how the filler cap hole left an indent - I didn't have the tools and resources I do now to have done it right those few months back. Hell - I'm still screwing up with the bog, but I'm getting there.

RACE MOTOR! The hood sits like that permanently - A: Because it doesn't close because it's the street hood, not the drag hood with the scoop. And B: Because I like seeing my first half decent engine bay.

I promise to get more advanced, such as custom little washer bottles, fluid resevoirs, etc - I have some styrene card, so I will be doing a few more muscle cars with "billet" styled engine bays.

Painted grille, badge wasn't shot well... Will get around to taking more pics when I can be bothered to make an actual light box. Cheese cutters on the front - lol.

That hole on the pictures left? I don't remember what went there, I do know however that I lost it AGES ago - so no complaints please, haha.

It's blurry, but you can see each bolt in the front end has been painted metal silver so they stand out instead of just being black and blending in.

Underside rear detail. I didn't paint the insides of the wheels. :-S No exhaust tips because I didn't like the look of them sticking out below the bum.

Front underside detail. The wheels do pivot from left to right, but the steering wheel doesn't move - so I just glued them in place.

Again - wheel inner sides aren't painted. So the Almighty drum brakes are still white - lol. (White hot.. and the car is still moving..)

More interior detail.

Hope you guys like it - I'm currently working on a '66 Shelby Mustang - again making it custom, but a '66 non shelby for some extra parts.

And I just completed an R32 GTR Skyline.

And.. when I get a new job - I'll buy some more - and keep building. :-)

Hi Martin,

one of my favorite Kits from Revell. It fits perfect and you also can get a good result by building stock out of box.

Your Charger looks good. Nice detailwork on the interieur and the paintjob gives him a "used" look (looks like semigloss).

Very nice Mopar, reminds me of Blade's Charger. If i may suggest for future builds, you might want to remove the company logos from the fuel tank etc.

Thanks Dominik, It's actually Matte Black mate. :-) Pics and lighting gives it a sheen.

And Phil, yeah, thanks mate. :-) But this was the first model I built 100% completely, and it was Inspired by Both Blade and Dom's Chargers.

Gonna be adding some engine bay custom goodies to my Mustang, so it should look 100 times better than this - hopefully. :-D
