Blueoval92..splitting the grille wasn't hard at all. I made a few soft passes with the back of my blade until a nice straight groove appeared, then gently added pressure and made lots of passes til it split.

I made some more progress today.

Added edges to the engine bay as per a 1:1 car.

Then added some detail to the firewall..

Not sure about the brake cylinder yet. The wire looks a little outa scale. Probably redo it.

Thanks for all the positive comments so far

cheers

woohoo.. This interweb thingy is amazing!

I couldn't make out the sign-writing on the side of my reference pic, so went searching for whatever I could find on 61 Starliners to hopefully stumble across something..... well..after about 4 hours I lucked out..!! :-)

I found the car and the Facebook restoration page for it. !!

Hopefully I hear back and can get some more pics.. It'll make my model so much more accurate.

Blueoval92,

I fitted the firewall to the pan

P1040154_1024x768.jpg

then added a filler strip as per the 1:1 car. Dont wrap the ends down like I did..leave them loose and it will naturally fill the gap.

P1040155_1024x768.jpg

then when I added the inner fender strips it decreased the gaps even more.

When I push the pan up and glue it in, the gaps will disappear, hope that helps.

Looking forward to see how yours come out.

cheers

Ian
