The cab is a minimum of 48" BBC, if you take that as a 4' unit of measurement it looks like the total truck height is at least 15' ground to top of box. I have a friend that is tring to purchase a 1:1 truck, and has promised to provide measurements so I can modify one of my Loadstar cabs that I'm working on. Being 96" (8') was the norm and the law then I would say the box itself is 8'. Using a typical chassis hieght of 3.5' to 4' gives a total hieght of 11.5' to 12'. Hmmm -- Box, front bumper, frame, and engine from the Ford Louisville kit. Change engine from a ford CAT to a Caterpillar cat engine. Wheels from Paystar kit. Radiator from GMC Astro kit. Front lower panels and fenders all Evergreen stock. Cab from AMT 53 Ford pickup kit. Interior is generic truck interior seats etc. Dashboard is ??? Front cowl scratchbuilt from sheet Evergreen. lapazleo Posted August 27, 2012 Share Posted August 27, 2012 Yes the sightliner had a 48" bbc bbc= bumper to back of cab. bbc has nothing to do with height. The box looks taller than it is wide to the eye but after I put a ruler to it the measurement was the same. 8' was the max legal width then and 13'6" was the standard max height. cargostar Posted August 29, 2012 Share Posted August 29, 2012 I agree with Leo on the height, 8 to 8 1/2 feet tall. IH shared stampings from their Loadstar cab when they built the Sightliner. To my eyes, a Ford cab wouldn't even be close without ALOT of work.....the only part that might be close in shape is the cab rear wall.
