I just built one of these and you can lower it easily by mounting the axles on top of the springs. Want it even lower? Give the chassis the Z treatment. If you want an IFS, snag one out of either of the Revell '37 Fords (coupe or convertible). You can also get the IRS from those kits. While they're1/24, I'm sure they would work OK under the F-1. Engine depends a lot on what style you're building it in.

Leave it mostly stock and drop a 392 Hemi under the hood. I did it and it makes for a interesting street machine.

Well, the Ardun flattie that comes in that kit is absolutely fantastic. I used it here in my '34.

A supercharged 312 Y-block (AMT '57 Fairlane) would also be a nice choice. Plowboy gave you great advice on the IFS, and the '37 kit would probably yield a great rear suspension as well.

The '50 is a great kit with a lot of possibilities. I may have to build another one.
