Sticker shock!

I don't get it myself. Between automated assembly lines and production being done in Asia and elsewhere you would think prices would only go down. But think of it this way. Some things go up but other do go down. You can get a 40 plus inch high def tv for not much more than 500 dollars. Five years ago, it might have been 1200 there abouts..

So far as I know, Testors still does much of their paints as such in Rockford, IL and even though labor cost probably haven't increased, the costs of the chemicals, containers, and transportation all have by a good amount.

The price increase comes from devaluation not inflation. Inflation is prices being pushed up buy demand exceeding supply. This clearly is not happening, except for some rare older kits.

Devaluation is the price increase caused by the debasement to the underlying value of a currency by it's government. Ie. printing money out of thin air, because they can. Their plan is to pay everyone, someday. The money just won't buy anything. Devaluation, not inflation.

Gas, in most places, still sells for less than 20 cents per gallon. That is, if you pay for it with two pre-'64 dimes that can't be debased by printing presses.

Pretty much it. These are the ill-effects of Quntatitive Easing, and QE-3 might set off what is commonly known as hyper-inflation.

In the case of a can of paint going up 50% in a few months, that sounds more like Hobby Lobby inflation, but with the myriad of laws and regs unleashed over the last few years and poor economic crisis management, we are now entering stagflation.

Thank you, you drooling dribble-heads in Washington.

Today I bought a can of yellow Duplicolor for a 1/20 Corvette I am working on. I have not used it beore but it seems like a lot of people here have good luck with it. The last can of model spray paint cost me 5.79 and thats for .3 ounces. The Duplicolor I got today was about the same price but the can is a full 8 ounces. if it works good for me I will be buying more. I guess my next 4 models will be yellow ! : ) Not really, always nice to have extra colors on hand.

I believe you're right. On the cans I bought the other day, the label says "Made in USA."

So I guess that's three things we still make in America... porn, burgers... and spray paint!

Yea, all of the Testors paints (that I know of anyway), most if not all of Pro-Line Racing's RC products, lots of Dubro bits and pieces, and those American flags and American Flag note pads we had in the store are American made...........and the latter two shock the snot outta me :o

From what I understand, the taxes levied on smokes go towards health insurance for kids in the state of Illinois, so it's not like it's being wasted.

That's a good one! And all the lottery money goes towards education!

C'mon, man... you know where the taxpayer's dollars go... in the politician's pockets!

This is Illinois! Remember???
