I get frustrated by the lack of accurate and/or attractive tires supplied with kits. I am not overjoyed to do so, but I will buy kits just for the tires. So, this leads me to my thread... I would like to get a thread going showing kits (and the tires) with what you consider are the best tires available. This can include factory stock, custom, pro-touring - whatever you fancy. **Please** - DO NOT POST WITHOUT PHOTOS OF THE TIRES AND THE KIT INFORMATION. I would like to keep the thread relatively concise and provide pictures and sources. Let's keep personal communications to PMs to limit the amount of gleaning required to obtain information. That was my thread, and I'm asking all modelers who're interested in obtaining more of these tires to send Round2 a brief, friendly message saying that you'd like them to make the new Ployglas GTs available separately like they did with their new pad-printed slicks and whitewalls. These are readily available and look like this: These ones are more expensive than the AMT Racemaster slicks, but still, you get two sets for the price of a discounted kit and they take up less shelf space! But, the big bonus in this kit: It's difficult to photograph decal sheets, but that's a decal for Good Year Polyglas F70-14s. COPO Camaro anyone? These are the ubiquitous Revell tires, but in the days of old they actually had sidewall detail - and decent, looks-in-scale sidewall detail. I like them. Good Year Blue Streak Sports Car Specials: Mine were in this kit, although many others had them. Now, they are in a lot of kits but the sidewalls are blank. Draggon Posted February 8, 2013 Share Posted February 8, 2013 An FYI on the new Pegasus wheels and tires. The tires on the soverigns are smaller than the chromes and crossbars. Bernard Kron found out that there is a "big and little" Chrome reverse set, but we dont know the part # yet. I put the soverign littles on a chrome reverse, and it looks great. Brett Barrow Posted April 12, 2013 Share Posted April 12, 2013 (edited) The Lindberg 64 Belvedere and Dodge 330 have some decent blackwall versions of the Goodyear Super Cushion like those shown in the PM/Revell '58 'Vette. A little wider than the PM/Revell tire and without the tampo whitewall. Makes a neat period-correct bias-ply tire for mid-sixties sleeper Super Stocks, plus you can white wall or white stripe them as well. Cool tire if you just gotta have your stuff on bias plys. (I prefer scale radials - they ride better ) Here's a shot showing them (right) along with the PM tire (left), and an old MPC version (center) of the same tire (original photo credit Stu Neil from TRak in Scale). And continue to do so... mike The whitewall groove is a little too close to the outer edge of the tire, too. Lots of folks thought the lettering was upside-down when they first came out. These were factory tires or day-two upgrades on lots of cars from around 67/68. They should have done the more normal later RWL Wide Ovals, that would have made a better choice, IMHO. They did have the line further out on the tire than most, but I think they're still a little off, I'd say if the white line was located just inside of where it is on the AMT tire it'd be dead-on. Maybe like 1 scale inch. I have some painted up with white letters and white walls around here somewhere, I'll snap a pic when I get the chance. They're just ugly 1:1 tires, if you ask me. Somewhere I have a vintage pic of a really cool "day-two" Chevelle wearing a set of them in white red line (oops, misremembered!) and white letter that I've always wanted to replicate, I'll see if I can dig that up too, but I think it's on my work computer. found it - Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
