Modlbldr
So, I went to my Buddy's house last night to give him some parts for his build and, as always, I left with more than I gave. He gave me a couple of started projects that I am excited to have. The pickup started life as the Ed Roth version. It has a bit of damage to repair. Bought a JoHan '75 Olds Cutlass, complete and unbuilt, for a VERY reasonable price, and a nicely built JoHan '69 AMX, complete and looking pretty good, for about what you'd expect to pay currently for a glue bomb on ePay. Only flaw with it is the guy filled the hole in the hood by covering with the scoop from a '70 Hemi Cuda or Challenger, which looks a bit strange. If I can get that off there, fill the hole, and repaint the hood (the guy said it was a Duplicolor metallic red, but didn't know the exact color name), it'll look great on the shelf. Pics as soon as I can sneak them into the house past The Lovely Mrs. Snake. And here they are. Much as I love polishing pristine colored plastic, I'm just not feeling it with this one (the Cutlass). What color should I paint it? Edited March 5, 2020 by Snake45
ewetwo
You lucked out there Steve. That would have been horrible if it was damaged.

ewetwo
I agree Snake. The cutlass needs a different color.

Too bad I can't find the two Model Master metallic browns in my area anymore. Either of them would have looked good on it. I'd go with Testor One Coat Bronze, but am worried about it being too flaky/sparkly. Might use it anyway, just 'cause I have a random can of it around here somewhere. crazyjim
A root beer paint would better represent the metallic brown of the day, I think.
ChrisBcritter
Maybe Sebring Yellow with a black vinyl top and interior, or Omega Red with white top/interior? Via autocolorlibrary.com:
The Junkman
Ebay purchase of an opened Revell Corvette C7.R but missing the decal sheet. BUT(!!!) in the same mail delivery was two decal sheets from Indycals. 2001 Corvette C5.R with the post 9/11 markings (flag draped across the top/NYPD-FDNY logos on the nose) AND a C7.R sheet I had ordered just on a whim. Its all good.

Via autocolorlibrary.com: I also have a slightly worn/played with red promo I wanna rescue soon. Will probably polish that one out, but the red is closer to Crimson Red than Omega Red, I think. I think it'll look badass with a black interior, mags, bigs n littles, and a "rubber rake." The Testors Bronze looks a bit like that Canyon Copper. CabDriver
My wife surprised me with a couple of cool little add one for my Silhouette cutting machine today - a set of their pens and the collets that they sell so can mount a pen of your choice in the machine and have it draw instead of cut: I’m not totally sure what I can use the pens for yet - maybe have them draw patterned interiors on some kind of stickable fabric? I’d wanted the holders for a while though - I was wondering if I could mount a little scribing tool or similar in one of them and have my machine do a kind of low-budget engraving on metal or plastic. More experimenting awaits - but if anyone has any cool modelling ideas on what to use those pens for I’d be interested to hear it!

I used to maintain one of those Oldsmobiles up until a few years ago. The customer bought it new in highschool and only drove it in the summer, it white with a saddle interior. I'm out of the garage business, but he still has it. It's pretty cool that a colonnade car was that well cared for, and nice to see an example that wasn't finished in a drab Earth-tone. TonyK
Here are the "new" decals in the '66 Chevy kit. Real disappointed in them. Was hoping for much more but think these numbers are trash. Tire looks decent.

We drove an '85 or '86 four-door for several years, bought off a little old lady. It was white with blue top and blue interior. It ran okay for quite a while, but never really inspired me in any way.
