I really like those kits. I have several of them, including the Bugatti, Auto Union, One of the 917s, a Tyrell, and the Surtees. I'd like to get the 935. I found the Surtees on Ebay, after I moved back to Colorado. It was in Delano, where I drove through, every day on my way to work, the last three years I lived in Minnesota! Anyway, they're very nice kits!

The mercedes arrived yesterday, not really got a plan now as its not going to work for my hauler idea but its unusual enough that I'll do something with it. Maybe slammed on big white walls and lose some of the chrome. The 3d ford consul capri body just arrived. Its going to be a singer style build on an italeri escort chassis. Not sure if I'll open the hood or not yet. I'll be taking it to work tonight as my other builds aren't an a position to be carried around. Some of the body lines on the capri seem a little soft to me so the first job will be to do something with them and extend the chassis 5mmDSC07825.thumb.JPG.5aeee9a485af138e633a9b07a4da63da.JPGDSC07826.thumb.JPG.40dbe964c984e15de698169adbeec049.JPG

Here's a few of what I've picked up over the summer , they are all new/complete and the Cougar is still sealed !  I built all these as a kid so it's really nostalgia that made be buy them again , at pretty decent prices too .  I do plan on building them all except the nomad , that one I just really like the box art .

Got these a couple weeks ago on Ebay . A seller had several of them but they were kinda pricey so I just bought two sets .

The brush I bought from a friend in New Zealand came today so I'll post the other one that I got recently too as they are similar. The one from New Zealand is a Holbein Y-2A. It's a B cup model with an adjustable trigger stop. I'm not 100% sure but I believe the A in the Y-2A is for the adjustable handle.

This is the one I've had a couple weeks. It is a Holbein Y-2. Another B cup.

y2a.jpg.519587f224050f3228afdd64fdb2d752.jpg

Holbeins are THE airbrush I would like to find more of. They really intrigue me. Most airbrush companies have a pretty much standard that they engrave in their brushes, brand,  serial number, model name, etc. Holbein did not do that. Just looking at these two pics you should notice one says Holbein while the other looks to me to have something like a Japanese character there (IMO because the brush is made in Japan). On the reverse side the Y-2A has Made in Japan while the Y-2 does not.

Additionally Holbeins have various names that may be found on them. Holbein, Hohmi and Toricon. I have a friend with a side feed brush and it is called a Neo Hohmi. The Hohmi is a Holbein brush (they made their own brushes) while the Toricon was made by Fuso Seiki, the same company who make the Iwata, Olympos and RichPen brushes. The Toricon should be able to accept parts from the Fuso Seiki line. The Holbeins will not.

I bought the Y-2 based on the Patent number, which matches the patent number on the Y-2A. If you look at the pic of my Y-1 (A cup) you will see that the patent number isn't there. No serial number either.

There is also a Holbein Dash series. These had adjustable head pieces.

If you decide you'd like to get a Holbein be aware that spare parts for them are just about impossible to find. Unless you are certain the needle, and especially the nozzle, are in good usable condition you may have wasted your money. I have gotten mine at what I believe to be at a really great price so if they would not have worked I wouldn't be out much.

Here's what I'd like to propose. There are certain brushes I am looking for. Being this forum is world wide I may have a chance at locating some that I wouldn't other-wise be able to find. I will offer a "Finders Fee" if I would purchase a brush you make me aware of. That may be model kits/parts, cash or something else. I often search eBay so I may already be watching what you find.

Besides Holbein (or parts for them) these are other brushes I am looking for. The parts I can most use are needles and nozzles.

Aerograph/DeVilbiss Super93. A side feed model would be great but any will be considered. A side feed Super63 would be good also. These were made in the UK so they should be easier to find by someone from there. I do see what is listed there on eBay.

EFBE

Gabbert  I'd like to find another Triplex. Parts for these would be good. I do go on eBay De at times.

Heikle

RichPen  a Gemini model or Phoenix model.

There are probably others, these were on my mind. If you come across a brush you think I may be interested in please send me a PM. I've bought brushes from New Zealand, France and Germany so I'm more than willing to go outside the US. I have ordered parts from the UK.

i think its the prettiest car ford europe ever made. i nearly bought one as a project 15 years ago but there really wasn't enough left for my skill level to fix it to a decent standard. the guy that bought it did a lovelly job, especially given how rotten it was

I called in well today, made this a George Jetson week🙂  Got a call from my local Hobbytown  and told me my garbage packers came in. Wasn't expecting them till mid Oct.  Supposed to be a cool drizzly day tomorrow so hope to get started on one of them.   I'm gonna try my hand at weathering.

'60 Buick out of a 2-bidder eBay auction where I got it for 50 cents more than the other guy. Helped my razor-thin budget that the (I assume) estate saler miscategorized it as "Pontiac promotional material" instead of putting it in the "Vintage model car" category, where these old buildups tend to become unaffordable for poor guys like me. No engine, missing one red lens, hood tough to fully close, has a heavy black brushed-on paint job that might be stubborn to lift off. Nice enough to not deserve a "glue bomb" label. Great to snag one with a usable enough body to lend to a street machine project idea I've had for years, was beginning to wonder if the main element was priced out of my reach.

My Chevy van kit arrived as well as some shifters and parts from rsmodels (Rich). Just came from HL and grabbed a '67 GTO kit and some paint. Another package expected today. Man! My credit card is taking a beating this month.  Next week, I can focus on painting as that humidity has backed off a bit.

I attended my club's model contest and swap meet today. Won a third place in the motorcycle category with my Revell Chopper and picked up a few things.

Chevy Wrecker, 33 Willys van, 53 Stude, Jag XKE -all sealed inside, VW parts kit to complete.a parts kit I have, GT 40 is started but complete. Wheels are AMT 68 Mustang, MPC Pontiac, what I think are Ford Hubcaps and three sets of Ansen 5 slot wheels, as well as 32 Ford firewalls, 60's skirts, a two pack of scoops and a pair af aluminum side pipes. Oh, and a 50's bumper and 72 Chevy bed. Not bad for $60!

Came home to a package from Jphillips that included a rebuilder 65 Caddy! Great day!

Later-

My first exposure to Humbrol paint. I am not impressed. The two brushs included seem to be of good quality. I haven’t tried the cement. But the paint is just plain junk. The kit itself? Not bad. I like it. It’s as good, and as bad as I’ve found with other Airfix kits. Acceptable.

the humbrol enamels are good, especially the old tins but they are getting harder to find. the acrylics seem to have sand added at some point during manyfacuring cos none of them are any good. i bought a joblot of 80 pots and none were any use except adding texture. strangely the acrylics they make for their warhammer stuff are really good paints
