i like background noise when i model and i actually got some time to model today (boy i hate BMF)

anywho, i was killing some time on the web when i found a place that played old TV shows and i must have watched half of the first season of "alf" today

i miss the days when TV was still good clean fun

(assuming there wasn't a hidden meaning behind alf's favorite snack)

married with childred is also great...but not something id sit down and watch mith my son

there sure were some great qoutes in that show though

one of my favorites is when Al is looking for a new alternator for his dodge

(phone menu)

if your car is swedish...press 1

if your car is japanese...press 2

If your car is japanese but made in america in a patronizing attempt to pretend we have a viable automobile industry...press .

Cats were a delicasy on Alfs planet, that's why he wanted to eat it. Married with childen did have some great lines.

Bud : Kelly, spell " Off " ( he's burnt looking and smoke is rising from his head )

Kelly :( looking sheepish and turning away ) O... something.

Alf was great. Imagine the networks trying to put out a show like that today? But then again, I Dream of Jeannie, Beverly Hillbillies, Gilligan's Island, et al, all shows firmly rooted in reality

so im watching this episode where they all go camping

ALF sneaks out and wonders into this cabin

two rednecks come in and find him and so he pretends to be an anteater

well' they're still fixing to kill him so one of em walks out the room to go get the salad ready

ALF reasons with the other guy and when the first guy comes back the other ones rats ALF out and says

"he's a talking anteater but i wouldnt listen to a word he says, hes sneaky i think he's from the city"

the first guy just looks at him and says "we need to get you a woman"

To sink even deeper into the depths of nerd-dom, do any of you remember seeing the cartoon ALF show? It chronicled Gordon Shumway's adventures on Melmac, before he came to Earth.

I seem to remember reading recently that there was plans to produce an ALF movie, with the same puppeteer to play and voice ALF!

My wife still has her ALF doll from when the show was on. She had it in the hospital with her both times she had open heart surgery, the first time when she was 10, and last year just for good luck. :)

No sitcom can ever equal the greatness of "Green Acres!"

Oliver: What is that?

Lisa: It's hot water soup!

Oliver: Hot water soup??!!

Lisa: Yes! Soup made out of hot water.

Oliver: That's it??? Just hot water???

Lisa: Of course! What else would you put in hot water soup?

My favorite sitcom is "Titus" though.

Ditto. B) And his standup acts are awesome, as well. The best part of his sitcom? His real-life father gave the actor playing him tips on how to play him more convincingly.

VYVYAN: It's snow, isn't it, Neil.
Neil - "No, it's probably just gone cold, Vyv"
Vyvyan - "Neil, this is snow!"
Neil - "No, it's risotto, Vyv!"
Vyvyan - "Look, I know snow when I see it! I should do, it's all I've had to eat for the past three days."
Neil - "Well, it's very nourishing, Vyvyan."
Vyvyan - "Snow, snow, bloody snow! I hate the bloody sight of it"
Mike - (reaching for Vyvans plate) you dont want yours then Vyv?

Vyvyan - ah, ah, ah, i didnt say that now did i Mike?

I think ALF was the really last funny TV comedy, along with some of the other shows of that era, like Mr. Belvidere, Full House, Boy Meets World, and similar programs.

Great shows that weren't too confrontational or overtly offensive. A little coarse comedy every so often is okay, but too much lessens your humanity and sends wrong messages to our youth.

And I do remember the ALF cartoon, it was on when I was in high school or about my freshman year in college. I enjoyed that, too.

You might want to go to www.Cracked.com and read what they have to say about the show ALF, it will change your whole perspective of the show.

I actually have issue #1 of the ALF comic book from back in the day. I bought it for less than $2 dollars, and then saw it listed for $15 a few months later. I thought I had hit a gold mine, but got nowhere when I tried to sell it some time later.

I absolutely remember The Young Ones, I think it was one of the funniest shows i had ever seen. "It must be some kind of negative reality inversion!"

i always enjoyed thier "mather of fact-ness" when setting up a joke...like this one

VYVYAN: Yeah, my potion! My potion as well!

NEIL: What potion?

VYVYAN: It's a potion I've invented where when the patient drinks it he turns into an axe-wielding, homicidal maniac! It's basically a cure. For not being an axe-wielding, homicidal maniac. The potential market's enormous!

NEIL: [taking a Coca-Cola can out of the fridge] What, is this it?

VYVYAN: Yeah! Yeah, I put it in a Coke can so nobody'd drink it by mistake.

NEIL: [placing can atop the refrigerator] You know, I just bet a bit later on somebody does drink that and turns into an axe-wielding, homicidal maniac!

on a side note, i was watching an episode of the young ones the other day and who did i see but doctor house

anyone else notice him aswell ?
