The reason the T was done that way is that Ts had a fabfic-coverd, built-up roof with a lot of wood. The '32 Ford 3-window had a soft roof insert like this...

pt_23611.jpeg

...and when opened up looks like this (a '34)

32.jpg

Hot-rodders have been filling the soft-insert with steel for a smoother look for a very long time. Removing so much OEM steel would quite thoroughly destroy the structural integrity of the body shell, though you could restore some of it with wood. Probably not a mod that would ever occur in 1:1, as good 3-window shells are worth their weight in gold. Still, a car with a badly damaged roof could be turned into something cool by what you're doing, and a lot of hot-rods came to be that way. Interesting. The Model A had a lot of wood in the roof and might give you some ideas. This is the wood for a '28-'29.

thnx , well alls till rough work and tbh i only had a tiny bit of styrene and only these angled ones ..

but after the chassis is done i will add more and clean up everything..

and yes low it will be , i'm doing it like this with the modified chassis and the cab on the rails because i never did that

only channeled with a modified chassis

i was curious on the outcome

it will be really low but in a way wont look that extreme because the roof isnt chopped and the cab is on the chassis..

sometimes i just want to try new stuff , otherwise it becomes boring :) and i canb dream up these revell kist now , the manual hasnt been opened ounce lol

here is a dryfit with the drivetrain , the transmission and drive axle really dont come up in the cab , just a hair

428234_247436592055925_593955896_n.jpg

735148_247436525389265_1183380614_n.jpg

on the chassis

421772_247436552055929_748487742_n.jpg

this is what was left , just a tad inside , i made a tunnel from a old airplain bomb / rocket

379661_247436585389259_407823034_n.jpg

i tried some bucket seats but i liked the bench more so i'm keeping that in

62936_247436612055923_191699142_n.jpg

184732_247436628722588_1152438497_n.jpg

this is just a rough idea , just to check how wood looked

so this isnt the width or how i want to use it

i will make a real frame following the outerlines of the gap and make some pillars in between

46859_247436665389251_1107026887_n.jpg

tunnel of the old airplane rocket

385299_247436655389252_1149105468_n.jpg

now i need to close the front gaps up with some styrene

394891_247436678722583_380690859_n.jpg

and tested the inner flare behind the wheel to cover the gap up (included in the kit)

thnx all !!

do you happen to have to original wheels and tires? I'm interested in them if you do and are willing to let them go... Nice build by the way!

well yes but to start with i live in holland / the netherlands :) also i could use them in the future myself..

the rear peices already got used in a nother build ..

i often pick parts from stash kits because i never intend to build a kit how it "should" be build :)

and @ ryanm , yes that sort of the idea i had ..

since the cab has got round edges i need to make a frame that really follows the lines and i also would like to try to get a slight buldge shape in them so its not flat on top..

but not sure yet it could easely become some steel reinforcement ... we will see

today i want to try and give the edge some more shape with a small strip maybe so it does not look so cut of

thnx both :) !!!!

well today i started on the engine i will use :)

a flathead v8 ......i'm going to supercharge it

the flathead >

i drilled out the sparkplug openings , weird enough they where not in line , i wanted to drill the circles , otherwise i would have to drill into the edges ,, just a kit flaw .. i think after everything is in its not that obvious

23360_247942205338697_1673283136_n.jpg

the front of the engine is flattened so i can make new pulley's

421686_247942225338695_658582910_n.jpg

554441_247942198672031_1739619634_n.jpg

dryfit , i like the fact the body is still high and the rear axle shows

44755_247942295338688_534125326_n.jpg

fitted the inner wells

424419_247942285338689_27449246_n.jpg

this is the ride hight , i wanted to do something i didnt do before , i love chopped and channeled but this time i did more to the chassis and kept the body on the chassis tbh its lightly over the chassis but not much)

394911_247942325338685_1683720573_n.jpg

rear wheels will sit wider i have to make something to get them further out

550359_247942358672015_1825966094_n.jpg

317005_247942372005347_971514717_n.jpg

558178_247942385338679_431057001_n.jpg

just fits , the steering rod clears the radiator , the flathead hoses fit nciely against the radiator , i will make a nice thicker piece where they fit in

385180_247942408672010_489897452_n.jpg

now i'm starting the supercharger :)

The title should say 32 Ford "SCALP'T"

thats a good one yes :) hahahaha love that !!

the chrome left on the pics is stuff that would not come of after de-chroming i had this before and i know that after primer you wont see it ..

got the partsboxes out and started to look for usable parts to get the engine blown :)

started with ....

734980_248005745332343_489766624_n.jpg

then added the red plate ...

and the top pulley is actually one that was part of the system that belngs to this engine

i cut away the rest and used that on top

64293_248005855332332_204754781_n.jpg

then took ablower belt and drilled a hole in the center of the top pulley

164408_248005768665674_886145647_n.jpg

wich then slided over the top one i already fitted

316989_248005798665671_1915295837_n.jpg

150039_248005805332337_2067271043_n.jpg

then made a top plate and added a offenhauser dueal carb system , the valve covers on the engine are offenhauser as well , after paint i hope the offenhauser text is better visible

601137_248005845332333_291931272_n.jpg

back plate

603083_248005865332331_911032617_n.jpg

found these brass stacks , they where on a iron string , dont know what they where

550144_248005958665655_1208162649_n.jpg

bended some copper line

394858_248005915332326_420945860_n.jpg

421634_248005921998992_899248284_n.jpg

now i want to make the distributer

thnx guys :)

now that the flathead is pretty build , i can really dryfit and check dimensions started wotk on the undercarridge / chassis

and used the axle supports of the kit , dechromed them cut them up in pieces and placed them like this , bit fantasy-ish

never did this much chassis work , but i'm also still growing and inspired by loads of awsome build here i just keep getting more and more idea's

next time i really want to buy styrene and get what i really need to really be able to build it even better

734664_248095215323396_1023313802_n.jpg

so to hide the uglyness due to the angle styreen i closed the cross member behind the cab and made round openings for the axle supports

529040_248095358656715_334651388_n.jpg

then made a plate op styrene on the back side of the chassis , behind the axle

555393_248095225323395_329608882_n.jpg

cut up the gastank so the axle and springs would clear and kind of used that to finish it of looking decent

46857_248095728656678_1042176830_n.jpg

64982_248095745323343_1378400489_n.jpg

dryfit and the stance , this is the final ridehight

69663_248095601990024_778325532_n.jpg

75811_248095695323348_2049455023_n.jpg

58251_248095711990013_1706637577_n.jpg

the creations all parked together
