Psychographic
I recently bought an Alumilite casting kit and have done a little bit of playing around with it. I've done enough to want to get a little more involved with it and was wondering what products are you guys using for your work?
futurattraction
I've been using Smooth-On 300 and 305 resin. Over the past 2-3 years I've used a combination of Smooth-On, Alumilite and MicroMark molding rubber, depending on the parts I'm molding. Greg Wann
I use Smooth -On Task 8. It will take a lot of heat and is pretty much chemical proof once cured. A body left in a hot car will not warp like the 300 series resin will. I am also using some Polytek Flex resin and their clear too.
shucky
I've had very good luck with Alumilite HS2 mold rubber, been using it for about 3 years now with no issues at all. I also use Alumilite white for resin and have recently tried Smooth On Onyx black with very good results. I have Smooth Cast 300 also but have not had a chance to try it yet. The Onyx is strange though ... where a little heat will speed up curing of Alumilite white, a little heat actually softens onyx black. So after pouring onyx I do not apply any heat to the mold I just cure on the bench.

futurattraction
Hi Dan, Ed Fluck has been casting my bodies. I don't cast them. He uses Vagabond resin, and has been for a number of years. What I'm using for my smaller components is Smooth-On resin. By the Way Scott how is the Stock body coming and the Chassis...
futurattraction
Hey Dan, I guess I'll say I'm sneaking up on it. It's not going as fast as I'd like, but I'm making progress. Too many fingers in too many pies...
