migace Posted February 24, 2013 Very excited about this release, now if only they would do a Grand Sport Corvette body.http://round2models.com/models/amt/chevy-camaro-zl1
Exotics_Builder Posted February 24, 2013 Looking forward for this and adapting Revell's Camaro detail, plus using the ZR1 engine spercharger with some scratchbuilding. Or, here's hoping Revell will announce one mid-year!
ModlerChris1987 Posted February 24, 2013 That's a curbside model so no engine if building box stock
Exotics_Builder Posted February 24, 2013 That's a curbside model so no engine if building box stock With a litle work, I have been able to start adapting the Revell details to the Round2 Camaro Convertible. Not a 100% direct fit, but pretty close. If Revell doesn't a ZL1, I'm hoping I can do the same to this one. Only I need to get the ZR1 engine intake and adapt it to the ZL1. kelson Posted February 25, 2013 I'm looking forward to this kit as well i plan on kitbashing it with AMT's 2011'Camaro convertible to make a ZL1 convertible.
Grant Posted February 25, 2013 Can't wait to see thid one at my local HS ... I want to replicate a COPO Camaro ...
migace Posted February 25, 2013 And you should be able to make a 1LE Camaro as well with the stock SS kit/ZL1 kits.
Metalmad Posted May 20, 2013 (edited) Saw the new Show Room ZL Camaro at local Hobby Shop while I was picking up some paint & does not come with the motor ? Has anyone picked this kit up yet ? Edited May 20, 2013 by Metalmad
Edsel-Dan Posted May 20, 2013 (edited) AMT's "Showroom Replica's" are Unassembled Promos, and therefore, No engine. ie, Curbside. and have an old-School 'everything molded in' on the chassis Not bad, But if they are like the 2009+ Dodge Challengers have Vinyl/Rubber seats, so you are stuck with a Black interior!! If they Had to make them in Vinyl/Rubber, why not do the White, so we could At Least try Acrylic paints to alter the color?? Guest Posted May 20, 2013 You could coat the interior parts with Future, then paint them any color you want.
horsepower Posted May 20, 2013 Or you can go to your local automotive paint supply & pick up some interior dye in the color you want, this is for use on flexible vinyl, plastic, etc. so it will work very well on the flexible parts in the AMT kits. Chuck Kourouklis Posted May 21, 2013 What Del said - Duplicolor dye also solved my Olds whitewall problems (till we all found out Revell was sending out tampos). Those vinyl parts also take Tamiya TS flats like there's nothin' to it. You can even sand down some of the swirl marks with their primer.
Edsel-Dan Posted May 21, 2013 How well will a LIGHT Dye work on that BLACK rubber/Vinyl though???
Casey Posted May 21, 2013 How well will a LIGHT Dye work on that BLACK rubber/Vinyl though??? Pretty well. Though it's called a dye, it's more like a flexible paint. Try it, you'll liiiiike it.
niteowl7710 Posted May 25, 2013 (edited) All great information for dealing with the vinyl seats in these new "Craftsmen" style kits. However if you're building a factory stock ZL-1 no matter what color your order it in, the interior is black leather with black alcantara inserts. Duntov Posted May 27, 2013 Very excited about this release, now if only they would do a Grand Sport Corvette body. image.jpg http://round2models.com/models/amt/chevy-camaro-zl1 I agree.... I wish they would do a GS body..... Coupe and Roadster..... Then I could build my 1:1 car..... It is one of several of my 1:1 cars that I have not been able to build.... hope they do it soon.... But with the 2014's in the pipe-ine already I really doubt it will happen.....we will no doubt see a "Show-room" replica of the 2014 by mid-summer..... One of four of my "real ones"........ Casey Posted May 27, 2013 The instruction sheet is up and viewable as a .pdf file on Round2's website, too: http://www.round2models.com/files/instructions/amt841.pdf
Exotics_Builder Posted May 27, 2013 Picked the kit up yesterday. Looks good. If Revell doesn't do one, the LSA is the Cadillac CTS/V version of the LS9 and the Revell ZR/1 could donate that. But the intake and shroud would need some mods. Also would need to add a cross brace on the shock towers. See my photos from the Palaitne Cruise In ZL1 engine bay close ups. Revell's 2010 Camaro can contribute detail including seats. I am not overly wild about the AMT vinyl seats (the rest of the interior is styrene).
