Revell 1949 mercury engine?

Recommended Posts

The 1st gen post war caddy v8 started out as a 331 v8 in 1949 and ended up a 390 v8 by 62. Carburation in stock form ranged from a two barrel to a single 4 barrel the eldorado versions ran twin 4 barrels and tripower. There was also a lot of aftermarket speed equipment made for these engines as well. The other hot engine was the olds engine.

It's a Caddy, like the others have said, I believe it's meant to represent the late '50's factory tri-power setup (3 2bbl Rochesters), at least that's what it looks like to me. Track down a Revell Parts Pack Caddy and you've got some cooler (IMHO) valve covers and more intake options.

"Laid-over" Strombergs from 53 Studebakers. Carter made a very similar laid-over carb for the 50 Olds as a replacement for the Rochester AA. If I didn't recognize the 1:1 this pic comes from I would have said they're Carters.
