modelmike
I'm getting ready to use purple power for the first time and my question is....How many strip jobs can you get out of one swamp... or is it a one use thing????
MikeyB08
Is it safe to assume your De-Chroming? I just used household bleach for the first time today and it did wonders. Within minutes it was clean of chrome. Purple Power... Not sure about
modelmike
No i'm stripping a bad paint job but you are right about the bleach removeing chrome... thanks
Gluhead
Unfortunately, while bleach eats up the chrome plating in no time, it leaves behind the clear undercoat. LA's Totally Awesome degreaser or 91% isopropyl alcohol do take longer, but get the undercoat as well (if one doesn't get it all, the other will). I also use both of these for stripping paint...the alky on synthetic lacquers, and the LATA on enamels. I did used to use Castrol Super Clean, which I believe is basically the same thing as the Purple Power, and it was good for quite a few rounds. 1930fordpickup
Some people on hear have said they use it for years. Over and over , just need to strain it through an old shirt or rag once in awhile.

Captain Obvious
I've never had much luck with Purple Power or whatever generic equivalent, but 91% isopropyl alcohol works wonders...for paint. For chrome I have used Windex (or equivalent) with good results. Edited March 18, 2013 by Captain Obvious
