Just completed. It was fun to research this one. A little bit of scratch building, some kit bashing, and some aftermarket parts helped bring this one to fruition.

The 18" front wheels really make this one look "right", along with the "pie crust" slicks, and the scratch built roll bar.

The driver's harness was scavenged from a Target 1320 dragster.

Engine is a Revell Parts Pack, 427 Ford.

I'm not real happy with the paint. The primer reacted with the plastic, causing the color coat to look a little "textured". I'll probably re-do it. Or maybe not :P .

Maybe its just me, but the rear tire looks like a 1:1 wrinkle wall drag tire with low air pressure ready to run down the track. Great looking car.

Thanks everyone!

They are wrinkle walls! Maybe this pic will show them better.

I realize this thread is a few months old but.............

very nice altered. Can you tell me where the 18" front wheels and tires came from

Thanks..

The front wheels came from Altered States . They come with tires but they were unusable.

I had to "stretch" some vinyl tires by boiling them! I dipped them in boiling water while they were installed on a dowel equal to the diameter of the rims. After their "dip" I hit them with cold water.

Uh, no, but I was a Boy Scout in 1965. Does that count?[/quot
Very nice job, Walter!

I have a question totally unrelated to the model: by chance, did you serve in the military say around the early to mid 80s? If so, were you stationed at Ft. Ord?

I had a comrade with the same name (Walter Frey) and so I was just curious. I never did the Scout thing, just regular Army.

Those "Awful Fuel Altereds". I mean the Website of course.

A super, super model. I love it. Could you give us some insight into which and what was bashed? Starting with the basic frame and body, which kit is it?

Looks great!

Michael

I have to try and remember. Gotta write this stuff down when I build.

Body and chassis rails are Bantam Blast. Roll cage was modified to look more

period correct. Scratch built coil over shocks and modified front susp.

Basic engine is a Revell Parts Pack 427 with parts box blower and hat.

Slicks and front wheels are resin items purchased at NNL East.

Front tires were boiled in hot water (really!) and stretched to fit the wheels.

Sponsor decals were made by me to depict a fictional So Cal shop.

That's all I remember at the moment.
