Yup. For a distributor-type ignition system, the coil can be mounted either of those places. It is common to see coils mounted on engines, but it's really a better idea in 1:1 to mount them on the firewall for a little more protection from heat and vibration. It's a natural location for the early Hemi in the kit, as the distributor is at the rear of the engine.
