It looks great. Also the details in the trunk - just perfect. but, why you hand painted the whitewalls? If its allowed, i show you some pictures, the way i make them: for whitewalls, i took a circle template with the right diameter... ...and brushed them in more steps white: Here the result: "Simple" and effective work, less the 15 minutes and you have and I have a uniform surface I do not got done with brush Perhaps, a choice for upcoming work? Did you spray it with OSH flat black first? and then what did you use for the weathering? I do have to say that my favorite thing about the chassis is the yellow Air tank. I think it looks killer with all of the decals on it and love how it stands out. And I am picking your brain with the chassis because of my '32 Rad Rod project i started before the Army F/C, I want to go for that weathered look on the chassis like you have here. I have some "Folk Art" medium gray since I couldn't find the dark gray. is the Umber a "folk art" paint too?? After I finish up my curbside '57 I may have to pull my '32 Rat rod out and tinker on in between working on the funny car. I am sanding the F/C chassis tonight in hopes of maybe getting color on it tomorrow since I was going to be shooting some color on the '57's interior. So stay tuned for tomorrow.... sorry to Hijack your thread . Ok back your beautiful build. I can't wait to see the paint on this one.... John Teresi Posted May 29, 2013 Author Share Posted May 29, 2013 (edited) Hello........thank you all for the kind comments........I really do appreciate them.......I stated on the engine........block painted Dupont Cadillac gold.....with Alclad and lightly weathered ........I used "Pro Tech": valve cover wing nuts, rubber fuel line,detailing wire and nut and bolt ends.......I also attached the front axle.......painted Alclad and lightly weathered .......I also made some friction shocks.......I still need to make a couple of anchors.......I will work on the carbs tomorrow........thanks for looking. I am gonna try your technique I need to improve my Alclad skills. That engine work is just gorgeous. I don't understand why the engine is mounted at such an extreme angle though? Doesn't seem like it's necessary for ground clearance or any other reason? Is the real car that way? Edit - Just went back and looked and the engine in the real car is nearly level and in line with the differential. If you're going for scale fidelity what you have done would never work.
