GT350-500. Skunkworks "Stealth". Or at least that is what im calling it

Well my convertable GT500 build is coming to a end and its time to start a new one.

Ok, first off, my goals always get twisted. My builds always take other paths than planned. So, here is what i plan. Forgive me if it varies . Take the body off a RM GT350, put it on a RM GT500, paint it black add the the stripes. I would like to tone down the engine and some how take the super charger off and just have a fuel injection engine. That would make me scratch a intake. That sounds hard.

Here is a basic view of the issues.

427FB86A-91BE-423F-824E-5ACDA37F8D44-663

The front and rear axels match the wheel openings. Score one for me

079F9EF1-8940-4F00-849E-C71A6EBAE374-663

The wheel wells will need to cut or the rear needs to be streched out (saw a awesome tute on the site) score one for the kit

203C0714-6C9A-4E85-8882-FF6ADD1F4373-663

The spare will have to go and a fuel cell made. And the kit is winning.

The engine bay is tight but should be trouble free.

Any thoughts comments are welcome

I also would like to cut the front and rear bumpers off the GT 500 and add them to the build

Cool! I saw an article a while back where a guy did this with a 1:1 Mustang. I can't wait to see how this turns out!!

thus could work...although the 2010 wheels will be way to big for the 350..

better to use the resin 1/12 wheels with 1/14 (or so) tires ...

i will be watching this build

Ok. I hacked off the areas above and the front fenders were still landing on the shock tower mounts. This was not expected. I cut the left wheel well off completly. I cut the right one off at a line that molded in the well

B2F39375-99A6-44AB-BC1A-5EAA4B2976DD-336

235F74B6-83ED-4F45-8B6B-2AF075474050-336

I cut about a 1/4 off the bottoms and moved them in a 1/8 or so to totally clear the fender well

9CE08B68-DBA8-4F23-A085-D4B11BAD0657-336

Now i just have to get the 1/2 inch coat of paint off the glue bomb body shell that i bought off ebay for 30 bucks shipped.

Im gone keep a running tab on how much i spend on this model to better track just how much goes into a build

Glue bomb kit. $30

Gt500 kit $40 bucks. 40% offer at hobby lobby.

That is 70 so far. I really dont see it going much over the century mark but who knows

I had to cut a little off the chassis wheel well part of the gt500 to get it to fit. This sucked up all the room for the tires. so i proformed a mini tub on the rear. I cut as much as i could and still keep room for the kit suspension to fit.

DCA8E683-50B3-404C-8C8C-D565BF9B238E-421

I am going to use the kits front tire on the rear and front. Because it is much more narrow.

D2314D52-029D-4F4B-B41C-2CFB24CD072C-421

Tight squeeze but it will fit. Now i just have to ge two fronts off some body

F4B575EC-DB34-4840-9C4C-F3A16689E981-421

What do you think. It is low in the rear but it is just propped up. It body should go up another 1/4 in the rear. I think the wheels are border line to large but i am open to criticism.

Here is another possibility

65F4C7F0-9394-4C13-9711-B0E0556A0DD8-421

This is a set of resin wheels tires off ebay. Im hoping the seller will sell me 4 front wheels because the rears are just to big. Since he cast them himself, i hope he will work with me. They are 25 a set.

you could also use the 1/12 resin Cragar wheels available on Ebay..

but combined with the stock tires these will also be way to big....try and find some low profile 1/14 tires ..that will work

i'm thinking of using them for my Camaro ..if i get around to it..

Just my 2 cents, but as long as you are moving around plastic to fit the later wheels but would really like to fit those BBS meshes, why not move some plastic some more and do this up like it were a Ring Brothers creation?

I thought the same thing but the more i cut, the further i go down the rabbit hole.

Those BBS rims kinda remind me of something off a old firebird or camaro.

I dont want any connection to any gmc product on the build. Am i correct in thinking these rims came on those cars or did alot of car guys put them on all types of rides.

I will be researching this ring brothers creations you speak of

Thanks everybody for your thoughts and comments.

They were on all kinds of cars. When I saw your photo, I thought at first that they came from Fujimi's Koenig Testarossa, then I remembered that's a 1/16 kit. That style was a very popular aftermarket wheel in the 1980s.

They were on just about every Group-A and Group-5 car out there in their day. They were seen on everything from Zakspeed Capri/Mustangs to BMWs to Porsche 930-variants. They were (and still are) a very nice wheel.

Something similar was on the Trans Am GT and Buick GNX. To me, a classic BBS mesh looks good on just about anything.

I tubbed out the rear all the way to the frame and that gave me a lot more room

3367591E-5B90-45EC-858E-53317DE282B9-500

I now have room if i have to use the kit wheels/tires.

The seller of the bbs rims told me he would sell me 4 front tires. They will fit but i will miss out on the deep dish that his rear wheels have.

I boxed out the tubs. I have some more sanding to do and i am going to add some half round to diffrent spots to gi lve some more detail.

Well she is yellow again.

I am adding the parts to line out around the inner hood and trunk.

28FF93A0-1ED0-4C4E-8697-79B3B3986743-103

The rear end parts dont fit up well so i am going to blend it in

Im thinking the paint should look like this

Ok, i have a little more progress.

Here i made a roll cage out of brass

9AC9ECC5-5EE7-4C2D-8AF0-87E1CFE708E4-170

Here i integrated the 500 grill into the 350

ABC639BF-F820-4DD4-ADB7-07771ACB58E5-170

I whacked the 500 hood down to fit the 350 chassis.

6E9D4225-75D1-4340-B01E-85E852ED3413-170

I had to make a piece because the 350 engine bay is longer than the 500's.

I got the wheels in.

C1B674B6-DE1B-4150-AE4F-4BB0B8A67DD5-448

Also the dash out of the gt500 was way to big and sat way to low. no leg room at all. So i am mashing the 500 gages and radio into the 350's dash. Here i put some magic sculpt in and i am

going to add a few vents

Gary, I likes the direction this is heading mate, you have my attention. :)

The "blend" with the dash and hood are especially pleasing to my eye, great work. B)
