who thinks revel should make this willys coupe a kit

Recommended Posts

Seems to me that is too close to the Street Rod version they already have . If Revell REALLY wants me to part with 30.00 on what I consider to be perhaps a 18.00 dollar kit , give me the option of a COMPLETELY stock Willys Americoupe .

Are you saying there was a stock Willys Coupe? That's just crazy talk! :P

Everybody knows they all came out of the factory as gassers!

I would love to see a stock kit.

X7, but it would probably require almost ALL new tooling, 'cause the drag-car and street-rod chassis are very different from stock, as of course are the engines, gearboxes, body details, etc. Somehow I don't think it'll happen. The existing Willys kits can be built into pretty much anything though.

I really like your stocker, Ed. What did you use for engine and guts?

I would like to see a Stock Willys Coupe - or a Pickup too. Gassers are very nice, but that would definately be worth buying.

A guy here in Finland built Factory Stock '41 Willys.

He started the build from Revell Stone, Woods and Cook Willys Gasser. The body, dashboard, Headlights, grille, little parts of front axle and frame as well as Radiator were used from the kit. From the body, Firewall and rear fenders needed to be changed. Engine is from AMT's "Hogans Heroes" Jeep kit. A lot of scratchbuilding was done in the chassis and interior area, too.

The same guy is building also '41 Willys Half Ton Pickup.

Why should Revell bother creating a new tool kit of a Willys ... or anything else for that matter? The "experts" would just trash it.

I agree, however, that stock Willys are cooler than cool should be allowed to be!

A stock Willys Americar kit is not going to happen. If the kit can't spawn multiple variants, it's a longshot at the start, and considering Revell already has two distinct '41 Willys Coupes in their lineup, how much good would a third, stock version do them? The '60s era Revell kit can be built stock with some kitbashing, as shown above. Almost all the parts exist already (maybe not the embossed rear bumper, but I think there's a decal for that) to build a stock '41 Americar, just not all in one box.
