Custom 53 Corvette Hot Rod " Thingamabob" is done !

Finished this "thing" a little while ago. I started with the AMT 53 Corvette kit and whacked offsome of the body and attached the front end to the firewall area. Used some sheet plastic and putty to smooth out the transition. I used the chassis, engine and wheels and tires from the " L'il Coffin" kit. The paint is "Go Green" lacquer with 3 coats of clear after I applied the parts box decals. I am not very happy with the interior as it did not go as planned. Because I lowered the body on the frame so much I left little room for the interior. I guess I didn't plan ahead very well. Anyway, here she is for good or for bad. Comments are always welcome pro or con. Thanks for looking.

That cut off wheel and center brace in the interior is great detail. Just wondering if the seats could be separated top from bottom and then cut down the bottom of the top and put back together, to get the set height right. maybe lay a seat belt across the seam afterwards. Just a thought.

This turned out very nice, I think the Register Plate says it all. Nice work with the conversion and the idea is really good too. And when the build is executed as nicely as this, I really like it.

Ray, I really like this. The whole design speaks to me and the use of the Lil Coffin chassis was inspired. Great color, stance, and graphics.

And yeah, interiors are the big challenge when channeling anything. Maybe just pull out the seats and shave them down until they are nearly on the floorboards. And I gotta agree with Richard about the decals over the door gaps. But that can be fixed too.

Thanks to all of you for your comments. Cutting down the seats would have been a good idea. I also forgot to fill the door lines before I threw the paint and decals on. Been building for 50 years and I still screw up ! Time to build a stock kit. 4 crazy builds in a row is a bit much for me.
