dantewallace Posted July 30, 2013 Share Posted July 30, 2013 As a kid I used to stand in Kay Bee toys in the mid 80's staring at this kit on the shelf, wishing I could buy it. Back then $30 was allot of money to an eight year old. Even after mowing lawns, and doing chores for allowance I could never ...save up the money for this before someone else bought it. They only kept one on the shelf at a time. Fast forward 28 yrs later and I finally found one. I really wish I could have done something about the poor quality out of the box on the glass but it was molded with the imperfections deep in the plastic. I had the car 'zine wrong anyway. I didn't even have the model company right. The one I was thinking of was a Revell, from their Car and Driver series. The paint consists of 3 coats Testors Italian red lacquer, and 4 coats of Model Master Ultra gloss lacquer clear. I then wet sanded using 4K,6K,8K, and 12000 grit, followed up with polishing compound and brazil carnauba. I didnt see anything wrong with the glass until the door was open and you looked thru the windshield.....No one will be getting SMALL to drive it so I wouldnt worry about the glass! Excellent job!
