Dads 1970 Superbird build

My dad decided he wanted to build a replica of his 1970 Superbird he bought new in 70 (he owned 2, one yellow the other blue). Back in 2000 he bought this kit and had me paint it for him. A few months ago i saw the kit in the closet and asked about it, turns out he can no longer do stuff like this due to his diabetes getting so bad. So i offered to finish it for him.
First thing was to strip the paint and sand off the body lines.

Engine wired and heater core hoses ran, still have to do the PVC system on each valve cover.

The interior, i wanted to strip it all down and redo it but dad did glue and paint it so im wanting to leave it pretty much as he did it with some additions like window cranks, ignition keys and seat belts (coming soon) just so he still feels like he had a part in building it.

Little bit more progress on the bird. Got the glass polished and installed, got the decals on and the tail light panel. Got some final assembly to do tonight, some touch up painting to do, some engine and chassis wash to add and this one is done.
Sorry for the bad cell phone pics, didn't feel like getting out the DSLR....too lazy.

They came with the kit. I have the old Petty edition (this one) and the new Street burner kit and both have the same decals except the sponsors are different if you choose to do a race inspired version.

As far as the rims go according to this website ( http://aerowarriors.com/sss.html ) and my father who bought 2 of them new with Magnum 500's and also was a mechanic at a Dodge dealer, they were offered as an add on for extra money.

My dad had a Yellow Superbird, a Petty blue Superbird and a Roadrunner all in 1970 when he was working at Fisher Body and a Dodge dealer at the same time. Sadly he got divorced and the judge ordered him to sell off all 3 and give the money to his ex-wife along with the house they lived in at the time. The yellow bird had less than 2000 miles on it and the Blue one had 2 miles and was being stored on the dealers showroom floor till the divorce was over, she found out about it and told the judge.....

Sharp car! Man how cool would it be if dad still had just one of them !!

Got the interior tub mounted to the body and the body to the chassis. Got to do the lettering on the tires, mirrors, BMF the door handles, mount the wheels and do some wash on the engine and cowl. After that its done! Man im tired, pics tomorrow bed time for now. Im sure my 2yr old will be up at 6am ready to go!! lol
