Whilst I was building my other Holmes twin boom, I discovered the other Holmes single boom, 1601, 1701, 1801 series, so decided to tackle that as a sister build to "Big Ugly", this time using a part started pete 359,

the underlift is based on a real truck that was modified by the owner, and built by him in his workshop

Interesting, kind of like the Darth Vader of wreckers.

That sure´s got a style! Looks like a cartoon chatacter or a comics book hero to me. I think I haven´t seen more interesting flames. Would be nice to have them on the wrecker body too.

Man this is one great build, like to see and know more about how you did the hing and the locks on the doors.

thanks for the positive comments, will try and get a W.I.P. together of the working locks, and some working slam locks I made, but it might be a while as busy on finishing this build and another for a show

Did you paint those flames yourself?

yes, it was my attempt at "true fire", didn't quite work though, but not too disappointed with the result, some have commented that it looks like an explosion in space or a comet, and I can live with that,

it was done with "Vallejo" acrylics, airbrushed on free hand at a 50/50 mix, at 30 psi, dropped to 25 psi, white , red orange yellow and white

Excellent skills and two great looking builds. These will be very impressive when finished.
