beeRS
I thought I would build a 'quick curbside' out of the box from Fujimi's kit, but as always I'm getting carried away with adding extra's along the way. Here's a pic of a nice 1:1 Pantera with the kind of look I'm going for. If only I had a set of 1/24 wheels like that. I've started with Fujimi's recent release. The proportions of this kit are so much better than any I have come across in the past. I'm also using the PE set from Studio 27. The first job has been to cut away the moulded in grill mesh on the front and rear - it will be replaced with PE parts from the Studio 27 set. Curiously, the PE set does not include any door handles. I find raised details like this are hard to work around when polishing out the painted body so I am removing it. I will be adding the door handles back in after the body has been painted and polished. Nearly ready for paint. Now what colour shall I go for... Bastardo
Looks tempting... Are you going to replace window trims with the PE parts? I don't see the reason you should... I mean - just mask them and paint them... Why would one use PE parts for that...? :/ Paint? Hot orange...
jeffs396
Nice project Sonny! If the kit wheels are like those on the box art, you've already got the ones you want, just take the centers and place them in aluminum sleeves Love me some Pantera, I'll be watching! I trial fitted the front PE windscreen trim and it doesn't even fit - so I will be leaving that out! Nice project Sonny! Those wheels on the 1:1 car appear to be about 18" or 19" and I think they look awesome. The kit wheels are the same design, but of the original DeTomaso size (I guess 16"). The aluminium sleeve idea sounds good. I have done this before, but with a plastic sleeve and it worked quite well. Thanks for the idea Jeff. vamach1
Great to see others building this unique car. I've got about six Pantera kits and have built two of them. http://public.fotki.com/vamach1/mustang-model-cars/detomaso.html http://public.fotki.com/vamach1/mustang-model-cars/100-0084.html Edited January 6, 2014 by vamach1

OutaFocus
Very early Pantera's had a small push button door handle. Since you are removing the molded in handle, why not back date it to the early, unique style?
