A BB shot on the backside shouldn't do any permanent harm, and will probably have the desired effect. But try to aim accurately. I've taken more than one animal to the vet that's had an eye shot out by some fool with a pellet gun. Cats need both eyes to hunt, so killing the thing outright with a clean .22 head shot is a lot kinder than partially blinding it, to die a slow death from infection or starvation.

Cats are smart and often very persistent. That can make them hard to keep away from a garden, etc. Here are some ideas.

This is their "House Cat" that they claim never is let out of the house. I can see it sitting inside one of their bedroom windows from our kitchen sink. As I sit at my computer/work bench I can see it walk by just below my window. I have tried all of the old wife's remedies including a Veterinarian recommended used coffee grounds and non of it has worked. The Deer and Rabbit repellants don't seem to work either. I don't want to harm the cat, but maybe a well directed BB shot to the back side might make his visits uncomfortable enough that he'll stop coming around. Now I'm going to start getting the hate mail, but if you ever are trying to do anything in your flower beds and all you are doing is digging in Cat BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH you might take a different view.

We have the same issue. You can tell which cats are house cats mainly because most have collars or at least a flea collar. While the park here has had cats trapped and the older ones spayed or neutered most of the house cats aren't fixed and they are the ones that are having the kittens that become the new crop of feral cats!

It's a vicious cycle.

Call your insurance company and see if they offer roadside assistance that can be added to your policy.  I ditched AAA years ago as it was far more expensive and after they damage my car (tow truck driver made a U-turn over a center island and damaged the lower front valance panel....they eventually paid for the repair).  I know Safeco and Progressive offer it.

Unfortunately mine doesn't offer roadside assistance. I have found a few that do, but the rates quoted me for my'98 Durango are more than I pay now even when I add what AAA charges.

Hmmm. Never had a problem with AAA like you describe. It's always been great to have and peace of mind when you have a wife and two daughters out on the road.  They've come and jump started cars, fix flats and unlocked cars for them.

Yes, based on what you tell them, the service vehicle can be sent vs a tow truck.  In my area it seems they only have tow trucks. The time you wait for them is based on the volume of work at any given time.  I've had to wait a few hours, and then I've had them show up in 15 minutes.  I've driven with them to my closed garage and had the car dropped off without any question.

Yep, the peace of mind is great. I realize it's not AAA's fault for having the policy that won't let them drop the car off without me if the shop is closed, I just wasn't expecting it. I should add that I had two unexpected good things come of this. I took Uber to go fetch my car when it was done, and had a very pleasant experience. I also discovered that there is an Enterprise rent-a-car exactly across the street from the repair shop. Plus, the Uber driver didn't chat me up, and her car smelled pretty good!

I usually get models to build, not for collector speculation.  In this case, I missed getting it from Hobby Search when it was available, and have seen ridiculous asking prices on eVilbay.  I suspect the Ferrari license was not fully approved, no hologram sticker on the box.  Seller shipped in a bubble pack bag!    So of course the Post Office damaged it.  It looks nasty, parts rattling around when I shake the box.  I just messaged the seller.

So I could open it, to see if the glass got broke, which would make it junk.  If it's just a few small solid color parts, I could live with it.  Will see what the seller offers, such as a partial refund.  Doubt they have another one.

This a sign that I should stop buying more models?  <_<

Thank you for the information. I think I'll look into the Ultrasonic devices fist since they rain and snow would wash away any of the other products. I really don't want to shot the little critter even though I'm a pretty good shot it would be very easy to be off just enough to really hurt them and I just don't want to do that. The ultrasound type sounds the best since it would be activated by their activity and this would maybe seem like a natural thing to the cat and they would associate the area with an unpleasant sound.

Woke up with a kink in my upper back below the shoulder. All day, I'd forget about it until a particular movement would feel like getting stabbed with an ice pick. A long hot shower did no good, nor did a handful of aspirin. I know it'll probably go away, but it's currently a royal PITA (well, upper back actually).

I was looking forward to some bench time this evening, but I don't feel like it now, as reaching and holding are uncomfortable. Maybe just to bed early for a change.

EDIT: Well, a little bench time was just what I needed to relax. Time to sleepy-bye.  -_-

Had to put brakes on my F-350 today came home from town yesterday and coming into the driveway started that WONDERFUL squeal. I was able to use the front rotors still but had one warped on the rear(I've known this) so replaced both on the rear new pads all 4 corners. Ok so the main irk (since I knew brakes were coming). WHY DID I HAVE TO RETOOL THREE TIMES!!! Front to rear I kinda get because of different suppliers but why is the rear different left to right?!

What irked me today was seeing a $55.000 Mercedes Benz SUV in a Walmart parking lot with Ohio special plates (yellow and red lettered) which designate a convicted DUI driver AKA 'party plates'. I guess with that type of vehicle all he could afford after the court costs, attorney fees, insurance and fines was shopping at Walmart.

That's certainly an interesting juxtaposition!

I've never heard of "party plates." Interesting concept.

For Snake

Since 1967, Ohio has issued special license plates for DUI offenders, sometimes called "scarlet letter plates" or "party plates." The red-lettering-on-yellow plates were initially issued at the behest of judges. But a sweeping overhaul of Ohio's drunken driving laws in 2004 mandated the plates for second offenses and instances where a driver's blood-alcohol level is twice the legal limit.

Didn't know that the TV show FantomWorks was cancelled . I thought it was one of the better car shows.

A post from facebook.

FantomWorks

Why DRS quit...

By the first few days of 2019, we will finish filming the television series FantomWorks. The shop will continue to build cars for years to come but the show called FantomWorks will conclude. Our weekly tours will continue as they have since long before the show began. A few weeks back, the network officially posted the cancellation of our television show. Because of that announcement, I decided it was time to explain why I quit and thank all involved.

I want to thank my crew of amazing technicians and the film crew that gave a group of mechanical artisans the chance to be in the spotlight. The crew of FantomWorks maintained the utmost professionalism building cars while dealing with cameras in their faces, sound equipment stuffed into nooks and crannies, radio wars (they were turned off 25 times a day), takes and retakes, working lunches, early mornings that turned into late nights, unwanted travel, and the general difficulties associated with being in front of the cameras 5 days a week, 51 weeks a year, 6.5 years non-stop. Right after the show began, employee turnover increased tenfold; stresses in the shop skyrocketed, and attacks on my company (bloodsucking leeches trying to suck “riches” that never even existed) came out of nowhere. In 2017 I announced to my crew my decision to leave the television show. To my relief, the crew responded very positively. As the cameras are now closing out the final segments of filming, the crew’s morale has skyrocketed and the love of building cars is effervescent again.

I am told that filming a television show on a “set” designed for filming and utilizing paid actors is a reasonably easy thing to do. However in the case of the show FantomWorks, filming was never easy by anyone’s standards. My thanks to those members of the network and film crew who truly cared about the shop. Some understood how difficult it was and helped in any way they could. We had eleven directors in six years, most of whom agreed this was the most difficult show to shoot they’d ever worked on (most one-hour cars shows are shot in a 2-30 day window while this show averages 548 days). Car restorations that averaged almost two years were a reality while we had to display “continuity” during the builds so it looked like they were seamless done in only days. Shop dust and oils affected film gear resulting in an unusual number of equipment issues that then resulted in countless “do overs.” We never filmed less than five days a week, many weeks six. Film crews worked 7AM till 6 or 7PM most days alongside our crews. Often times, filming went well into the night. All this while trying to keep 65 to 98 cars in build at a time. It was never easy. To add insult to injury, many customers were upset as they were never reimbursed for travel or other expenses. The film schedule was so demanding that during the final weeks of my father’s life, I was not able to attend to him. The show took over my life and to make matters worse, my wife and I now face almost a million dollars of debt we incurred keeping the production going.

I have only one regret related to leaving the show. That regret is that we have to say goodbye to our many fans. I have been honored to meet thousands of viewers of the show during the tours at the shop, in local car shows, and national events like SEMA. I’ve travelled the globe and been truly delighted and humbled by meeting so many people who have openly expressed their love of our the shop and the show.

Just a few months ago, a very emotional fan of the show shared a wonderful story. He and his father would watch the show FantomWorks together during the months before his aged father passed. His father suffered from severe dementia had forgotten almost everything; his surroundings and family. It was only during the hour that they watched this show together that his father’s mind became alert. He’d been a car builder in his younger years. While the two watched the show together, his father could “remember” and for that hour, they’d connect… they’d talk. When he told me about what the show had done for his relationship, I rationalized that all the financial hardship we’d been through to make the show and even dealing with the gutless faceless internet trolls for six and a half years were somewhat justified.

So when one of the senior executives from the network and I had a long talk. He suggested that if it doesn’t make any sense to keep going, it’s time to call it done. It was time…

God Bless.

Do any other states do this? And, how long do you have to have those plates on your car?

Found out after carefull searching today, and trying to fix my car, that it turns out that I need a new computer. The car is a 2009 Crown Vic police intercepter.Great shape inside and out.And what pisses me off,is that my friend and I may have had something to do with the computer dying on me.We were feeding a copper tubing for an oil pressure gauge, through a hole we found in the fire wall.Well my friend thinks he may have hit some electrical control panel under the dash.Cause all I know is,right after that, the car went hay wire. And the cheap tubbing snapped right in our hands:angry:.

Interesting...since moving back to Ohio in 2017, I have seen a few vehicles with that style plate, wondered what the significance of the color was...
