Don't know if it is illegal or not but, anyone heard about subliminal advertising?  Our eyes and brains are more perceptive than we realise, as in subliminal advertising a car commercial could be running and just one frame might show a picture of a chocolate bar for example that screens in a fraction of a second in the middle of the car ad.. The viewer does not realise it when it happens at the time, but later may feel a craving for the chocolate bar.

Yeah, I read a couple whole books about it back in the '70s. Once you learned about it, you could spot it all the time.

Comedienne Elaine Boosler used to do a hilarious comedy bit about it. She talked about a car commercial with a busty blonde bikini model, "And then a guy wakes up in the middle of the night and says, 'I'm gonna buy that car. In fact, I'm gonna buy TWO of those cars, and stick my head between them!'"

You can see this in movies all the time. They call it "Product Placement" and the companies doing the advertising pay the studios a lot of money to have their products appear in the movie even if it's something just laying on the table. Manufactures will supply several cars and or trucks for the actors to be seen driving in a movie.

David,      Placement advertising and subliminal advertising are two different things.

Subliminal is to trigger a brain reaction without you actually being really conscious of it as the product may be flashed up in just a single frame.

Placement is as it says and has things located in places for all to see in a very obvious manner as a part of the movie or TV show.

My router died without warning this morning. Took me a while to figger out what the problem was. Went to Best Buy for a new one, they're "by appointment only" and of course I didn't have one. Drove across the street and bought one at Walmart. If you are reading this post, it means I got it hooked up right. B)

We got it. Very funny story.

Yah, your first reaction is always, "Why did it have to die TODAY???!!!"  Which is stupid, because we all know that it's going to die SOME day. At least it didn't happen when I needed to make an important eBay bid, or something of that nature. Just ate up an hour or two of what was kind of a slow day.

Or maybe I just get less upset by life's little glitches than I used to, or something. B)

Been having trouble with my hip recently , pain off and on for months , it put me on the floor Tuesday morning, so I made an appointment to see my Dr . Was late to the office by 2 minutes and the Dr had left the office , last appointment of the day . So , they moved me over to the emergency side and did a CT scan , told me to go to the ER immediately . Tried to get a n ambulance to take me in , but there's a 3 hour wait , so we dive in . Spend the next 5 1/2 hours in the ER ,  lots of poking and prodding , am told to follow up with my Dr to get a referral to an orthopedic specialist for a possible hip replacement . The meds they gave aren't working too well , supposed to take every 6 hours , but the pain is back to full in about an hour and a half , fortunately I still have some from my fight with the table saw , took off about 1/2" of thumb a couple of years ago . Now , I'm waiting for the referral to come through and see what the Specialist has to say . Other than that It's been wonderful . :P

My day kinda sorta sucked!

My wife wakes me up early that there is a puddle in front of the dishwasher. I hope water connection is dripping and can be tightened... nope! It’s dripping above the connection so it’s the pump. 15 year old unit is not worth pulling out to replace a pump, so new dishwasher it is!

Then the mail arrives. I get a renewal notice on insurance that we cancelled in February when we sold the house. Nope! Allstate says it wasn’t cancelled and I made a couple of calls between a broker and corporate to get it cancelled and refund back to the date it was closed. Still don’t know the final outcome.

Then I go grocery shopping. I get home and realize I left my phone in the little basket on top of the cart. I run back and was fortunate that someone turned it in. At least that worked out.

One of those days Tom, man it’s good you got your phone back. Still some honest people left..

Went to the local market to get some odds and ends plus a couple of nice Filet steaks for our Friday Night dinner. Fridays have always been an evening that we sort of have an at home dinner date. After putting everything away after shopping I notice that the steaks I bought weren't in the bags I brought home. I drive the 5 miles back to the market and the two young girls that were the checker and bagger now know nothing about me or the steaks and their supervisor suggest I go to the Customer Service Desk. They finally told me to go and get two more steaks and called it even. Finally someone at the Customer Service Desk mentioned that they were training some new employees and the felt that is what happened. The bagger never put the steaks in my bag and probably gave them to the next person in line. Someone got a couple of nice Filets for nothing.

4 confrontations with people in the local supermarket who don't seem to quite get what a 2 metre exclusion zone means. Or as one said 'I've got to get my shopping!'

So let's be clear, we all have to stay at least 2 metres apart - unless we're doing our shopping! Brilliant.

That'll keep the virus at bay.

Here in Pennsylvania about a half hour west of Philadelphia, masks and distancing are the law. People seem to get it, I was out today with no problems. The only issue is that people are getting antsy and there’s a lot more folks out and about.  And I worry what all the protests will spread.

Our proximity to New Jersey and New York, as well as infections in Philadelphia put us here at risk. Enough people here work in those areas to cross pollinate us. Our infection rate has been low and people understand our cooperation has been a factor

'antsy' is a good way to put it. I'm glad to be tall at the moment, even though it means I'll never get to drive a Lancia Stratos.

We have no enforcement on masks here in South Wales. About 20% of people do, mostly the old 'uns.

Ruh Roh...Scooby Doo?  I kinda remember that from something I watched in childhood...

I believe so. I've never actually seen the show, but am given to believe that's the case. B)
