3D printing growing as we speak

Recommended Posts

Takes away the notion that you can just print something out and be ready to go. There was a lot of work put into that model. A couple of the processes (of which I had no idea existed), were also extremely messy!

It's a very cool model, though.

I'm guessing here, but it seems that once you make one model, all the programs are there to make as many as you want.

This could be interesting in a few years if the little 3 pick up on this. They could probably save a lot on pre production and mold making. Things that really cost a lot. We shall see.

I just picked up a makerbot about a month ago I love it !

So, what have you done with it model car wise? I have. over the last year. build a reprap prusa I3 printer. I have less than $600 into it and can do anything your makerbot can do. That's not the point. In order for this technology to move forward in our hobby, we need more people using it to make advancements than the gee golly wizz wow posts look what it can do we see here.

my66s55 I don't know what your problem is but coming on here saying my printer is better than yours is exactly why I don't come in here anymore. I bought my printer with everything in the pictures for under 500.00. Works great and I like it . I've been building models for 30 yerars if not more, and Pro mod outlaw 10.5 chassis's for over 12 years from scratch. I got the printer for not only improving my skills and parts pile with this thing but if I can help the progress of integrating these with our hobby that's what I want to do .I plan to make turbos, engine blocks, heads and small items with my makerbot.

Thumper... That is a smoking deal for the Makerbot. I have been eyeing one myself and I know they are 2200.00 off their website. I would say you totally scored on that one. I have a good buddy of mine that is in California that has one and I am going to send some parts that I am drawing up so he can print them for me so I can see how they turn out in that machine. I would have no complaints picking one up for 500 bucks...lol
