64 Ford Galaxy (new pics 10/30/13)

(hope this does not post twice, my screen vanished as I was putting this up a few minutes ago)

This build was inspired by a car in my hometown that I saw about 13 years ago, and I am just now getting around to it, DOH!

I always like the body of the 64, but since the kit was a curbside, I will be borrowing the chassis and motor from the Starliner kit. (yeah, I know, not accurate for replica stock, but this is not a replica stock build, please forgive me purists ;) )

I am not good about keeping a lot of pics going, so forgive me..

Hood cut away and ready for the lip to be installed

The tub style interior was chopped up, so the dash, console, and seats will be seperate, and the sides and rear seat will be one piece. (pic before final cuts)

The motor so far, I removed the molded fuel lines from the bottom up to the carb and replaced with wire.

The chassis will show some weathering, as this car will be one that is driven, not a show car.

@ Joker, Rob, Nick, Ray and Carl, thanks fro the feedback guys!

@ Rusty, yeah, the Starliner kid has some great detail, wish I had bought several more last time they were around. I plan on picking up some more at my next contest I attend if I can find them.

@ Larry This one will be bright red as well! Baby Moons on Chrome wheels, black interior. Got the paint to finish out this week and the rest of the foil I did put on before paint.

@ Plowboy, yeah, I am up in the air about the doglegs. I do not know that I am good enough but I am certainly no a quick enough builder to add that to the list of things to do before 11/03 which is my target date....well, 11/02 actually, have a local show on 11/03 :-) We shall see tho.

@ Richard, thank you sir. I am trying. This one, like most all of my projects the last year, the paint seems to be fighting me. I already shot this one, started the buffing process, and a couple spots will need touched-up/shot again.

Great Engine!

Very Realistic... B)

Great Engine detail! Cant wait to see some more of the whole car

Thanks guys, I should have some more picturesup tomorrow. I started the buff work on the paint already. Then I can finish up the interior, then final assembly!

I started this a few weeks back, but have not been good about taking pictures along the way.

The pic is not very good, (taken on my step-daughters cell phone) but I got the foil done today. I still need to finish the polishing, and then start final assembly. Having a hard time getting the foil on the door handles, so I will likely Alclad them. Will take some better pictures this week.

OK, I think I am in the backstretch on the Galaxy. I am not happy with the paint, after I polished it out, the clear coat has continued to shrink a bit. Despite the fact that I let the red cure for over a week, and I used a clear by the same company, it has spidered in a few places, so more polishing etc. Still, since this is primarily a shelf build for me, I do not think I will strip and redo the paint, too much work in it already at this point.

I failed to dry fit the firewall, so I will be having to trim and adjust that. But overall, the look is coming along as I had hoped.

I could not get the door handles and key hole foiled correctly, so I used liquid mask and shot the handles with Alclad, I think they turned out pretty decent.
