LogTripper
Hello from Oregon! I live with Jeepgirl and in an attempt to find a hobby that interested me... I got her addicted to models! I remember one of the first model's I worked on... I know that I was young, probably between 8 and 12. I think that it was just a snap-together kit. It was a model of the late 80's Batmobile. Now, I had no real interest in Batman but I loved the look of the car. We had gotten the WWII Jeep that Jeepgirl finished and I had intially started the work on it... well... I got stuck on getting some of the pieces together and gave up. I'm trying my hand again with something a little different. For my first project I'll be working on a 1949 Mercury Custom Coupe from Revell (Kit 2860). I'm still trying to make up my mind on paint colors and the final look of the car. I was wondering something fairly basic though... when you get a model and you take it out of the box for the first time... what do you do? Do you start looking at the assembly directions and take it apart piece by piece or do you paint pieces, let them dry and then start? I want to get started on this Merc but I don't know if I should start the small parts first or not? Looking forward to posting photos of my attempt! I'm dragging Jeepgirl to this swap meet next week, hopefully that'll provide some inspiration.
