Harry P.
1/8 scale wire wheels, hand-made, very nicely done... but $700??? slantasaurus
Just like everything else on ebay, if you don't like the price don't buy it.
Shardik
Interesting, considering you can get a complete set of brand new, full size and fully assembled wire weels for less than twice this amount. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-XKE-MKII-Dayton-Chrome-Tubeless-Wire-Wheels-/230620025074?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35b20650f2&vxp=mtr Or a pair of used ones for $175.00 And yes, Ron; we get the concept. It's just amusing is all.
cobraman
Way too much IMO , but they are beautiful looking wheels.
jeffs396
Can't believe there is a market for this, and for good $$$ too: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MPC-1969-International-Scout-4X4-1-25th-Scale-Model-Kit-Air-Box-phantom/400602782992?_trksid=p2047675.m1982&_trkparms=aid%3D333005%26algo%3DRIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D18242%26meid%3D2756513634023758563%26pid%3D100009%26prg%3D8344%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D5%26sd%3D281206000587%26 Next thing you know they will be putting old kit parts inside these sealed boxes and getting big bucks from the casual modeler/collector that will believe they made these phantoms! Sure wish this Scout 800 was kitted though...
Longbox55
If that was a real kit, I would certainly buy one!

Erik Smith
There was a phantom box with a 1963 Ford Fairlane wagon - sold for $38. I thought it was cool. It was a shrink wrapped box. Looked like a real kit. Edited November 17, 2013 by Erik Smith
mademan
$26.00 is good money? I see nothing wrong with this ad, the person who makes these phantom boxes has to do the artwork, etc...... I just traded an AMT VW scirocco kit (unbuilt) and an old built-up 73 Caprice..... a total of over $100.00 worth of kits, to an artist who made me a Phantom 63 Acadian Beaumont Sport Deluxe model kit boxtop for my father for his birthday. EDIT- LOL it doubled in price since my comment. Guess there is a decent market for phantom boxes. Tom Geiger
Up to $62. Makes ya wonder if the bidders think it's an actual kit, even though the seller states it's an airbox and empty several times!

Edward Gore
Listed in category: Toys & Hobbies > Models & Kits > Automotive > Vintage Toys & Hobbies > Diecast & Toy Vehicles > Cars, Trucks & Vans > Plastic > Modern Manufacture (1970-Now) It's listed in the wrong category(ies). 5 bidders so-far. 11 bids (so-far) 2 battling it out. The only subtle clue is "(phantom)" in the title. It's clearly described in the description below, though. I'm confidant that they do not know it's an empty box of a nonexistent model kit. Super cool item idea for collectors, model builders, and/or 1/1 featured vehicle owners... I'm watching this one to see what the final price will be Edited November 17, 2013 by Edward Gore
Erik Smith
I would think collectors would know enough to "know" that kit is a phantom. I knew the '63 wagon box was a phantom because I knew there never was such a model. Why is it so weird somebody would want a collectible piece of art? Obviously, the person making these boxes is quite good at reproducing convincing boxes - design, layout, print, assemble box, and shrink wrap. FASTBACK340
Wow, I wonder how much for a phantom kit of my personal car? My car on the box, MPC or AMT logo's and all..... From that perspective I see a market.
pharoah
But it has the dueling banjos hit record! LOL I want one of those Fairlane wagons.
sjordan2
I'm willing to bet that newbies don't have a clue what "phantom" or airbox" means in the general vocabulary, even though he described it reasonably well.
Casey
Looks like the box designer used way too many screen shots from the movie, and not enough PS'd images of the actual kit. This one is slightly better IMHO:
Edsel-Dan
I would love to get the Old Adam-12 & Hawaii Five-O boxes. These were shown in that other Mag Before the 'Net was common place, or even Open!!!
