DodgeAddict
In drawing up plans in my mind for my diorama I knew I needed a towing company that consisted of Dodges So I combined the Revell GMC Wrecker kits with these two Dodges Build pics coming soon

DodgeAddict
Thanks, there's a big rig wrecker planned using a BigHorn cab kit on the AMT Peterbilt wrecker
DodgeAddict
This is the first mock up for the wrecker using the GMC chassis The interior tub of the Dodge & the frame don't jive well so this is a cab only shot A few nights later it looked as it does now with a Dodge front stub attached to the GM rear stub almost looks like it was made that way I'm rushing through so my details aren't as sharp besides, a real Dodge man knows that's no Dodge rear frame anyway Before final assembly & paint this truck will get a new original issue cab assembly The cab presently on it will be the shop trash truck with primered panels & rusted stacks & steps with one missing original wheel & wrong air breather just like some of the real ones you find today Edited March 11, 2014 by DodgeAddict
DodgeAddict
The rollback is built using Evergreen 189 .125X.250,Dodge front stub,tires/wheels & rear axle from the GMC with the front wheels & tires easily adapted to use a steel axle This is the first pic I took after deciding what to use for the correct floor for a rollback bed for the 70's-80's look I used a HaulAway rear ramp for mock up The tape is still on the frame in the first few pics The bed patterned from the Haulaway ramp was built using evergreen 189 125X250 square stock, parts sprew & a piece of floor from a ribbed side AMT box trailer I use the best looking part of the floor to get the best looking woodgrain pattern that was correct there's some styrene sheet in there too The first pic is before the winch & chain cavity was cut out The second & third pic, the day two more donor GMC's arrived & I had built the cavity previous while waiting The wood paint looks better in person but before finishing I want to wipe a wash across it to high light the woodgrain I'm going to widen the headache rack of the wrecker donor to fit this & use all of its tow accessories I'll be finalizing my order list for building materials soon for most of my builds & this gets a sliding/reclining mechanism as soon as the styrene hits the table

DodgeAddict
Thanks Carl! I sit here thinking that on the other end of town there should be LRE's competitor with Chevy's & Fords in their fleet so I'm ordering up another kit or two before too long I guess
redneckrodder
I say build a 79 4x4 ford wrecker with possibly a 12 valve in it
DodgeAddict
Eventually they all will get resin cast 12 valve Cummins & yes a 4X4 Ford using the current reissue Firestone Ford I ran one like that named "Black Magic" back in the day There'll be a 81-87 Chevy Rollback to represent the one we had at Camaro Heaven
