I love this reissue!!! Now my mint original can just stay on the shelf, and age more.... :P The new nose looks great.

When did it come out?!

It's not quite out yet, should be just a few more weeks. This is a production review sample courtesy of some really nice folks at Round 2.

The new nose is a vast improvement over the original. This is a pic of an early re-issue and a resin Malco body mastered by Paul Mendoza. The yellow nose is the original version

Looks like a neat kit..never had one of these. The yellow one in that pic looks like a '65-66 style front end.

the SOHC engine here...how does it rate? is it used in other kits, or is it noticeably better or worse than other company's offerings?

thanks for posting this, its always nice to see what you are going to get when you open the box lid.

Isn't this the kit that back in the day had the wrong body to to the actual car?

Like wrong ft clip compared to the body ?

Yes you are correct GTX. The rear body was close and the front clip looked more like a 66 than the 67 it was supposed to represent. I'm assuming here but I think since they probably had to retool the front end for the correct scoop they decided to correct the front clip all together.

Greg, the 69 was the clear body car. Never the 67 as far as I am aware.

Greg...to answer your question above:

The same basic kit was updated to the 1969 body shell, Boss 429 engine (if memory serves correctly), new Ohio George "Mr. Gasket" graphics, and a one-piece clear body shell. It was available in two different box arts during 1969 & 1970, but never reissued after that.

A couple of years ago, Round 2 hinted in one of their newsletters that this second 1969 version might be under consideration for reissue as well, but nothing further has developed to date that I have heard about.

So the body ,,, ft and rear sections are correct for the car it's trying to represent ?

sorry for the questions, but the Gassers never did much for me back then .

But if the kit is right for the car it's depicting I may have to pick one up for the future

Thank you Tim. I guess after they tried doing the clear body on the "Petty Charger" they just gave up. Sad. :(

The reissue is supposed to be correct yes. Its still a little off in the rear body shape but not far enough to worry about unless your a stickler for the little details as I am. It was why I mastered the Malco mustang body to begin with.

So.....do I modify the AMT 67 (which I have a couple minus chassis....great for Johan Mavericks) with a previous re-issue or should I wait for this to hit the shelves?

I'm not sure this body is right but its a lot closer....

Not sure which decals are better, these or Slixx.

Depends on how much of a stickler you want to be for accuracy. Most will say it's accurate enough, and there's nothing wrong with that. If you do start with an amt body you will need the gt and the gt350. Ohio's car had std tail lights with the gt350 spoiler and caps. The headlight buckets were also std mustang. Or find a resin body. Mine was done by Fremont racing,no longer in buisiness but I'm sure there's bodies out there. Also I think comp resins does one now although I do not know how accurate or if it was even based off mine. Also I believe theirs is one piece.

when I saw the chrome tree and there are sidepipes in it, I was confused at first... then the "street racer" reissues popped up! any more info on how well the SOHC is represented in this one? love that engine..... built an F350 kit years ago with one in it.
