doogie7046
I am working on a built up CO4070A that I got a while back. Its almost done, just need to find a few more of the missing parts. These old cabovers are one of my favourite models and getting harder to come by. The Transtar 11 is also going to be rebuilt one day. Jim B
Coming along nicely. The Transtars were good looking, no nonsense COEs. I don't know how they drove, but they looked nice.
Old Buckaroo
That is some mighty fine work ! Nice to see this rig getting a second chance. I was never aware there was both the "A" & "B" model. I had a "B" kit and always thought the only difference was the boxart like so many of the other kits. I always liked the IH coe's show palaces I thought with all that shiny stuff. Edited May 25, 2014 by Old Buckaroo

BenG76
The International CO4070 was more or less a "bare bones" fleet truck and The Transtar II had more flash and chrome trim. The cab on the Transtar II also sits a little bit higher. Of course as with any other truck, both could be spec'd however the buyer wanted. I've seen CO4070's with as much chrome as a Transtar II. The Transtar II Eagle though, that was a whole nother breed altogether...
cappy625
the early transtars where pretty much all 4070 a models then in 73'or 74' they started to offer bigger engines in them so they had to raise the cab a little to fit the bigger engines.this became known as the 4070b model then in 75' the transtar2 came out they were all b models until the end of the transtar which was in 1982. Old Buckaroo
The "A" 's came with round headlights and spoked wheels (Red & White scheme Box art) , The "B" version has square headlight trim and Alloy wheels (Brown & White Scheme Box art) . mackinac359
Well done ! Box-art paint scheme too. Transtar series started after the CO4000 was introduced and featured a wrap around black and aluminum band that surrounded the grille and wrapped around the door. Transtar CO4070, CO4090 looked similar but the 4090 was a bit taller to accomodate larger engines and radiator. The Transtar II CO4070B replaced the Transtar CO4070. The II was taller for the larger engines and radiator, had the wipers above the windshield, additional grab handles, under-door step pockets, improved air cleaner piping/routing, a wrap-around instrument panel and a handful of cosmetic and dress-up improvement options. 4070B had square headlamp bezels.
