Sam I Am
I work at a body shop and this is one of the latest jobs. Its a 1976 359 Pete that has a 25 foot 9 inch wheelbase, and custom panels to cover the frame,as well as fenders, bumper and other bits. It will get blown apart, and painted. Matching front fenders are still in their packaging as well as a new rear window panel. We are going to pull the cab to make it easier on us. Hopefully i can reproduce it in miniature after its all done. Oh, and the drive train is much newer. Petetrucker07
Thats lookin good. The local custom rig shop out here has something similar, super long, they told me they were makin a party wagon, mini bar, jacuzzi. With the new emissions garbage and regulations, the only way to keep this old iron movin is to turn them into RVs.
Narampa
Looks like it might be something special. When this truck is finished what is the intended purpose? I know with the rear fenders it won't be off road.
Sam I Am
Since this project is a time filler, it will go slow at times. We now have the cab stripped and after three days of scrubbing, the chassis is painted. We also have the front end blown apart and started prepping the hood panels. Inside of the frame covers are painted as well. It will be painted in University of Wyoming colors.....Brown and Yellow.....and used for parades. Sam I Am
We have been plugging away on the old Pete. I tell you what, ironing out this old work horse has been a challenge. Hood and doors are ready for paint. cab has been worked on, and on, and on, and, oh you get the picture....should be in primer by Tuesday. Fenders are all done.... Rear bumper and all the frame covers were getting cleared when I left. Pics tomorrow, I hope. All that leaves for the yellow are a few brackets and hucks. I LOVE huck rivets !!! Petetrucker07
Itll be a good 1. I think stretched out trucks are the best, but i know its a southern cali thing mostly. Long and low.
Sam I Am
If it hauls anything, it will be a cattle pod. So I plan on building one of those as well. lol I am wondering if the older rigs will live longer in WY, the state does not care about all the emissions. Petetrucker07
But the government does. The old trucks will live on, but as show trucks or RVs. Id love to have an old truck to pull a 5th wheel camper.
Sam I Am
The same guy who has this truck also has an old cabover I really like. I will get a pic of it over the weekend. Its still an aluminum frame and belt drive.
Petetrucker07
I love them old cabovers.
Sam I Am
I have been tempted to buy one for myself. I do not know what its like in other states, but in WY you do not need a CDL if its for private use and less than 100 mile radius from home.
